Looks like the rumor is true.

This is not good for both schools. Kudos to Jesuit for having integrity and a tough way for their seniors to end their time playing high school football and this will be tough for DO to have two weeks off....tough to maintain sharpness.

What does this mean for Woodcreek and Granite Bay? Are they still alive? Can they find a smoke free field in SoCal this weekend and play?

The bracket on CIFSJS website just shows Del Oro advancing to section championship... I graduated from Jesuit, but attended a lot of Del Oro (my favorite Friday night atmosphere in the greater Sacramento area) games after moving back to Sacramento after college. I was really looking forward to the two teams finally playing each other. What a bummer.

What does this mean? I'm actually really confused by the statement. A soph player who was ineligible to play in games was inserted? Academically? Too Young? Never heard this before. Transfer?

Im guessing it was a transfer that had limited eligibility, meaning he could only play JV. If that is the case, some one in the Jesuit athletic dept (AD/Coach) really screwed this one up. Sucks for the Seniors...

Thanks. That makes sense then. Yeah no kidding. This entire post season with the smoke and tragic fires seems to be coming to an abrupt end. Maybe time for the hardwood.

I dont understand why AD's and coaches let ineligible players suit up. Something doesn't sound right about this. If a kid is questionable the best thing to do is just call the SJS to make sure. That's the job of the AD and coach

Kids and coaches work too hard for stuff like this to happen. Something doesn't sound right about this situation. It's not really adding up.

Doesn't make a lot of sense. Jesuit arguably had the best two players in the D2 field. I just dont see how this happens. Not sure of the details, but all I can say is wow!

That's what it looks like if you peruse the section transfer decision list on the section website and compare it with the Jesuit roster on Maxpreps - a sophomore JV call-up that probably got some action late in both games after they were both long decided. If I understand the section lingo - Jesuit had the choice of playing him sub-varsity all year or having him sit for the varsity sit-out period. Since he played JV, he couldn't play varsity.

maybe the section could have some balls and do the right thing and let Jesuit continue playing. Yes it would require a judgement call to determine if the player affected the outcome and it is clear that section commissioners find it far easier to hide behind a policy than to make rational decisions. My guess is a soph who got pulled up to varsity for playoffs had virtually zero affect on a decisive Jesuit win and that would be obvious by watching the film. Seems crazy to me to ruin a seasons worth of hard work for 40+ kids over something like this.

Sorry, Supergreen, but that cannot happen. Jesuit is a fine school and the young men that make up the program will learn from what happened. Hopefully, the coaches that screwed up will let the players know that it was their mistake. Unfortunately, the players have to pay the price.

Actually if the CIF and both teams head coach agree on playing this game it could happen. It would take a lot but if both teams are about the kids they could make this happen with a letter of agreement signed by both programs and the CIF Commish. If DO doesn't want to sign off on it then it's considered a forfeit and DO moves on without playing for two weeks straight. But I don't like hearing nothing can be done when it comes to kids. Had this been college or professional that another story all together. I had DO in this game but it might be closer than I first thought if it were to happen.

Why not? The punishment should fit the crime. This is like getting the death penalty because your 3 year old grabbed a candy bar off the shelf at the grocery store when you weren’t looking and you walked out without paying for it. It likely goes goes completely unnoticed if you don’t report it. Doing the right thing should not come with this consequence.

I like the notion but will not happen. Feel so bad for the kids paying for admin oversight.

I also had DO in a close one but we will never know now.

Don’t know how this happens. DO dodges a bullet. When is the last time the delta league hasn’t been represented in the SJS semis? 12-15 years?

With the fire at 60% containment and with rain coming this week I’m very hopeful that AQI will be close to normal or at least not in unhealthy range this Friday where play is a go. While the playoffs have been paused we still have some exciting games ahead!

IMO with DO’s offense being inconsistent the past month, having 3weeks off works more to their disadvantage by not being able to improve through play. I admit however one advantage they will have is with injury recovery where I know at least the kicker and center have been nursing injuries.

If I’m in town this Friday I may take in the Indy vs CC game which should be a great game.

Same reason I took Jesuit, the DO offense has been lackluster when it should be clicking. Goes back to their soft preseason schedule. Jesuit on the other hand has gotten much better, handling a very good GB team that beat them earlier in season.

DO’s defense and special teams have kept them in the few games before Folsom game. Did not see game Vs Tracy but offense put up decent numbers. DO will have to have offense clicking to get by Indy or CC. Tall order with not competing for 3weeks. Not something HS teams know how to deal with. Different coaching staff vs the CT era but DO seems to find that extra gear in the playoffs.

Defense and special teams scored a lot in early games, but not the last few and it has exposed their offense. If you'd seen Tracy, you'd know they'd have lost to Woodcreek, so not a good litmus test.

Starting RB was out against Tracy and their star lineman was not a 100% either.

They still scored 5 TD’s on offense in a little over 3 quarters after allowing Tracy to move the ball reasonably well but not giving up a score till the 2nd & 3rd stringers went in. Even the JV kids all played.

Oh and Woodcreek would not beat Tracy.

I'm banking on DO having a great defensive showing against CC in the championship game. If they do they'll win the section in a very competitive game.

Only having to play and win 2 games to capture a D2 section title is a bit of an advantage (no matter how many days they've had off), don't ya think? ;) LOL.
