Joe Mixon does it all

A common mistake a lot of coaches make.It was 3rd down so he went with the 3rd down back as they have done all year instead of understanding the magnitude of the situation and switching it up.
This is an underrated part of coaching at any level. You need a staff (because it takes more than one person) to be in the moment, but also have an awareness of situation of what could come next.

The thing is I personally view Perine as a short yardage back. Mixon is more than capable of handling third down back responsibilities, he has good hands. They were in the middle of the field where his athletic ability was better suited for the situation than Perine.

True but I think it's horrible when your third best offensive player isn't on the field for the most important drive of the entire season.
