Just cancel the Basketball season.

I am on the other side of this even if it's a 8-12 game season the seniors who have given a 4 year commitment to there school's basketball program deserve to have somewhat of a season.
I agree with @bones40. Some is better than none, but expectations should be low for the season.
At this point, our family will take whatever season we can get. Our son is a 4 year Varsity player and it would be wonderful to see him on the court for however many games this year.
There is something special and different about playing for your school, then playing for your AAU team. If a season can be had, even a shortened one with no section or state playoffs, it is well worth having IMHO, particularly for those who are seniors. I do not see any valid reason for cancelling the season if it can be logistically pulled off.
I guarantee you are not a HS coach saying cancel the season. I coach HS and have coached AAU. There is no way i would say cancel the season unless there was a BIG risk at exposure for the COVID. but with everything going that is not the case. Seniors need SOMETHING this year. You also have to remember that the 7th 8th man might not be good enough to play AAU. or families don't have money to pay for AAU. Unfortunately a lot of people on this message board side with AAU because how much more competitive it is but what about the kids that are not that good or do not play AAU.

Actually, I was a High School. I retired do to my illness. I respect your comments. I coached for over 30 years. 10 years at a DII College.
I was looking around at websites of my favorite schools, MaxPreps, others...
Thru DLS's website, I found the EBAL website which has a full league schedule up and an official start date for hoops practices (Apr. 19).
Campo used to have a few games up on MaxPreps but they have been removed from the site. No useful info about start dates or schedules on their website, but I did find their league website. That also has no schedule listed, but it does indicate that St. Pat/St Vincent has joined that league.
NCS website still says no section hoop playoffs.
Some of the games scheduled for the Newark Memorial showcase still show on Maxpreps; I'm sure those will disappear soon.
So... Not a whole lot of info overall, but enough to keep hope alive for at least a partial hoops season.
