i dont get this push to vaccinate kids. Do you know how many kids under 18 died of covid last year?.....381 ...thats it (still tragic)..kids died of suicide at a 10x rate....why do we close schools, make kids wear masks, social distance when study after study shows it does nothing to help the kids but actually causes higher rates of other deaths such as ...suicides...also, what is the survival rate of kids under 18....99.99995% and for all ages...99.95%...and all this data is verifiable and not some right wing ideology...study after study worldwide shows that kids do not have to worry about covid more than having the flu...speaking of flu and last scientific point...in 2019 there was about 30m cases of fluid and less than 2000 cases of covid...in 2020 to 2021 we had just the opposite...so somehow all those millions of flu cases with symptoms essentially identical to covid and/or the fever just disappeared and we only had covid cases? Something doesnt add up...that isnt saying covid doesn’t exist as it very much does but it is pretty telling that we change our whole world for a virus very similar to flu or fever (with a survival rate equal to a flu) ...this whole point is that we are acting scientifically and economically irrational and quickly removing the freedoms our founding fathers fought for...we are telling millions of students and hundreds of thousands of student athletes that for 381 sad deaths we are going to punish you and rid you of your youth

For the millionth time...

The issue isn't just the kids getting the virus. It's really the kids getting the virus and taking it home and "re-gifting" it to their parents, grandparents, etc. Vax up, mask up.

Nobody is going to change their mind on this subject. There are rules in place whether you agree with them or not regarding who can play. You go into the season knowing that and deal with whatever comes up.

It is not a great situation but it is reality.

It seems so simple. If you want football and other prep sports to be played, it's up to parents to have their athletes get the miracle jab. Why is this so difficult to fathom and implement?

It only seems simple to people that think like you. Fortunately not everyone does.

Miracle jab? How rich. Meanwhile serious side effects continue to be discovered and break through cases continue to rise.

The only thing that is truly simple is to do your own thing and allow others to their own thing. And stop preaching to others about what you think they should do.

How about that? Isn’t that fair (and simple) enough?

Nobody is going to change their mind on this subject.

Yep. Yet someone still feels the need to create a thread to push a political opinion.

Reporting why the games are being postponed or cancelled is altogether different than what’s going on here.

Keeping things “simple” isn’t so simple for some.

Vax up, mask up.

How about doing your own thing and allowing others to their own? Why is that so freaking hard for some of you to do?

If I preach to you NOT to preach “vax up, mask up” to me and others — are you going to do it?
Nope.

So you’ll have to excuse those of us that treat your POV exactly how you treat ours.

Don’t vax or mask up and shut up. There’s my preachy advice that you and others likely won’t follow.

This is a ridiculous post and makes no sense…. Is this a thread about political views or keeping kids safe at HSFB games?…..

the only thing that changes people's minds on this is when they are in the ICU, staring at a breathing tube headed towards their mouth.
Agree. Most persons' have an idea what the mechanical respirators do [ie: mechanical ventilation"] in pumping enriched oxygen to a persons' lungs. Much fewer people seem to know what "intubation" refers to for the more serious covid patients with deep lung tissue damage.
I was present at a hospital last year and saw an intubated patient unable to speak and extremely uncomfortable. I was also there there when they removed the hose going down his throat while several medical personnel held him down - it was not a pleasant thing to watch & something I will not soon forget. Careful out there people...

Let's not misunderstand. Health/safety rules regarding covid are very tough, very restrictive. Prep team sports (note the word "team") are seriously affected by covid contact. Football isn't golf; it isn't tennis. What one kid or coach does, or doesn't do, can have a huge impact on the group. Look at Serra tonight. Were all of their people vaccinated? No.

why is suicide always brought up with corona?
Great question...because of the correlation...several research studies have shown that there was a dramatic increase in suicides amongst teens and especially girls due to the lockdowns last year. So what I am stating is that we are ruining the lives of these kids for no scientific reason..

Actually this post is not ridiculous...it is pointing out facts of why we are over blowing covid to the point that we are ruining the lives of young people and young athletes and tearing down our freedoms as Americans for a virus that has 99.95% survival rate and 99.99995% amongst kids...i think we need to let kids play and not worry about making them vaccinate or wear masks or if there is a case (when have we ever made scientific decisions on cases alone prior to covid) we cancel a football game...it is bs

I do not think there is much correlation. The rate has increased 10.7 percent since 2000-2018. Every year it went up.

Teens that all of a sudden decided to take their life over the look down were already on the path. There had to be signs that were ignored or missed. Watch your kids, know your kids. I know plenty of kids who loved the lock down for the fact they got to sit at home all day.

“Allow others to do their own thing.”

Firstly, a breakthrough case does not carry any weight for the anti-vaxxers. Why?

A. If unvaccinated, one is much
more likely to get very sick and maybe succumb to SARS-CoV-2.

B. If vaccinated, you’ll have VERY high probability of having mild symptoms…or none. And it’ll be rare to test your faith.

C. It’s a vaccination; not an immunization. Learn the difference.

It is HIS/her right, however, to not care about you, your health or the mortality of any of your friends, co-workers or family.

Secondly, using this posters rationale (“do your own thing”) I’m guessing he doesn’t wear his seatbelt, has no airbag, yada yada….

People ARE changing their minds. This stubbornness that vaxxing/masking is weakness or a tribal identity is waning. More anti-vaxxers and the like are going on YT/social media after their loved one has DIED stating “I was wrong.”

Just to be clear...1.65% of people who got COVID in the United States have died. No stats on the number of people with long term health issues such as myocarditis, fatigue, fuzzy brain, shortness of breath and other symptoms that go much beyond the affects of the flu. In 2018, 0.10% of people who got the flu died.

Vaccines work. Smallpox and polio were eradicated because we all took vaccines.

And to quote Jerry Jones, “Everyone has a right to make their own decisions regarding their health and their body. I believe in that completely until your decisions as to yourself impacts negatively on many others. Then, the common good takes over. And I’m arm-waving here, but that has everything to do with the way I look at our team, the Cowboys, or the way I look at our society. We have got to check ‘I’ at the door and go forward with ‘we.’ Your Dallas Cowboys are doing that.”

Sounds like many need to turn off their TV here. Israel would be a good place to look in terms of science and data. You might be surprised by what is coming to light.
Latest from Israel says dramatic surge similar to U.S. and vaccine much safer than getting Covid Delta variant,
am I missing anything Truthhertz? Israel usually is ahead of rest of the world & so yes I'm listening...
and hoping others are as well...

Actually as sad as the Serra FB program leadership is just missing the boat on developing all the listed qualities given during interview.

This Pandemic remains for the Unvaccinated, but thus still affecting the vaccinated who walk the walk with the talk the talk of Coach Walsh of his “Let them play” manta.

I don’t care about political viewpoints, heck even Trump got vaccinated. Vaccinations should be mandated like other FDA approved recommendations. Students can opt out for religious or health reasons, but they pay the price with Health & Safety Guidelines.

If Sectional leadership and CIF would set the same standards as NFL, with forfeiting games? Walsh would have to put up or shut about Freedom of Choice👍

Yes you’re missing some valid info. Remember they are a society that has about a 80% vaccination rate. Their data is reporting about 60% of all hospitalizations are in fact vaccinated. They also are reporting those with natural immunity have a much higher resistance to Covid than those who are vaccinated. Those with natural immunity also don’t need boosters every 6,8,12 months. Again each individual should choose what’s best for themselves, I will say randomly vaccinating people who may have natural immunity already isn’t science or frankly even smart. It simply take doses away from people who may actually need it or want it. But again Don Lemon says jump the lemmings ask how high ✌️
Here's from article from USA Today as to "natural immunity" not being nearly as effective as the vaccines. I just looked at several articles and can't find anything re: Israel saying "natural immunity provides better protection.
Perhaps you got misinformation off a post somewhere[?].

"Although antibodies from natural infection may provide some protection against the virus, evidence shows nothing protects against COVID-19 better than vaccines."

Good article on data from Israel and explaining their situation in detail. Israel's overall vaccination rate is 58%

"Most of them [vaccinated & hospitalized] are over 60 years old and have comorbidities. The seriously ill patients who are unvaccinated are mostly young, healthy people whose condition deteriorated quickly."

Yes but the death rate is down per capita

Here is the funny thing please pay attention. I’m neither vax or antivax in my post. My post you replied to however fell to censorship and deleted. I didn’t remove it so who did? In terms of USA today or NPR as sources of news or fact, maybe my TV comment or Don Lemon comment flew over your head. but Remember for no apparent reason my reply was censored, you paying attention yet? No shortage of data. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...vents-delta-infection-better-than-pfizer-shot

I am dismayed by the one sided censorship of the clearly two-sided scientific-backed data. It has been allowed to go on for far too long by responsible media. I'm not so much referring to this post deletion as I am the general approach all forms of media have taken in the last two years and even in the last 5 or six years.

I would add here in America we don’t have responsible media. Media should tell “the” story and allow viewers to decide. Our media tells “a“ story and ridicules those who don’t agree, see the difference?

Believe year before last games were cancelled, delayed or rescheduled due to poor air quality resulting from forest fires and I am pretty sure that wasn't at the behest of The Tobacco Commision.
Good point Concrete - just watching DLS vs St. Mary's game and it's a good one! I remember all the games 2 yrs ago being canceled/moved due to the AQ as result of the fires. The game I am watching was likewise rescheduled to a different area a day later due to air quality in Stockton - so nothing more than "common sense" and safety of the players in mind.

It was related because of the Don Lemon part. Similar to why a following post was deleted for a Hannity comment. I think the rule is simple. Keep politics out of it. Both of those comments above didn’t do that.

I believe Lemmon and Hannity are television journalists, not politicians but they sure do attempt to polarize political matters.

In my opinion in regards to this, they are added for political flair. Mentioning them did nothing for the contents of the post so why add them unless the posters are trying to take it that route. That’s my read of it

Not surprised your read is wrong but censorship usually is right? The whole topic is political frankly you‘re simply flexing some menial power trip. Point was clear, media has a agenda, agenda isn‘t based in fact. Lemon, Carlson, Hannity, Maddow, etc, are simply telling a story. Highlighting our media’s malpractice isn’t political it’s simply fact. if pointing this out is “political” you might be part of the problem. ✌️

Watched DLS vs St. Mary's this evening and appeared DLS had all their starters playing [?]. Perhaps Coach Walsh at Serra should ask Coach Alumbaugh what his "secret" is.. ;)

Honestly, I'm surprised Streak One allows as much political chatter as he does. I don't think he's power tripping. I think this is a high school football message board. Unfortunately, the reality of Covid is that it has infected all aspects of our lives and it is politically polarizing for some reason.

I'm not really criticizing anyone's opinions or asking for more censorship. I'm just stating the fact that a lot of things are routinely discussed here that are far outside the bounds of what legitimately should be discussed here. It's a high school football message board, after all.
