Maybe it's a good time to send out some congratulations to Head Coach Brent Brennan (St. Francis HS alum) for his San Jose State team's somewhat surprising 3-0 record. The Spartans haven't achieved such a mark since 1982 when Ronald Reagan was in the midst of his first term in the White House and Alex Trebek had not yet taken over as the host of "Jeopardy." Nice work.

Would be great to see win 7-9 games a year with mostly local talent, since living in San José last 10 years been really pulling for them

With the Big Sky conference not playing until spring I'm having a good time following the Mountain West conference. I think it may be the most competitive conference in all of college football

Wel before we put the cart ahead of the horse just looking at the schedule opposition is 3-13 v. SJSU and all 3 wins come from SDSU. So I hope the trend continues upwards but the meat of the schedule coming up where their opponents are opposite of what they have faced so far with Reno also being 4-0.

we will learn much more about SJSU when they play Boise State, Reno and Fresno State

I think SJSU loses to Boise and beats Reno. I'm not so sure they can handle the firepower that FSU has with Ronnie Rivers, Jake Haener and the Bulldog receiving corps. It's hard to get a gauge on MWC because of all the top teams in the conference the only impressive win was SJSU over SDSU. The good news is the second half of the season pits teams like SJSU, Boise and Reno all against one another. I need to remind myself to not let SDSU get lost in all this.

Will this team finish better than the 2012 Spartan team 11-2 (5-1) nd ranked 21 by AP and Coaches polls? Defeated Bowling Green in the Military Bowl. That team had a lot of local talent with former Palma QB David Fales (several years in NFL just waived this year from Jets), WR Jabrari Carr (Oak Grove HS), TE Ryan Otten (Del Oro HS), LB Travis Johnson (King's Academy - signed by SF Niners), RB De'Leon Eskridge, Serra HS and other local talent. They also had some great Socal players.

That was a really good group. That was McIntyre's last year before leaving for Colorado
