I noticed that there's no Rivals camp in nor cal this spring and even the nfsc/nftc this summer is already full. I assume Nike is conducting a smaller event this summer in Nor Cal. It's a shame that kids in the area won't have access to free summer camps that the class of 2015 enjoyed.

Provocative question? Not sure why but it's not from lack of talent. Lots of high profile guys. Will be interested to see who comes to the forefront at QB and RB

Dublin has a couple of kids that could be good.

Keith Millard Jr. who was a sophomore that needs to put on some muscle. At 6'7 260 pounds there's something there to work with there.

Tyree Williams (RB) junior of Dublin. Had some huge games and is a punishing downhill runner.

Let me be clear I'm not trying to be disrespectful. There are some very talented players in the class of 2016. Just wondering how it stacks up against 2015 top to bottom? There's hotta be a reason Rivals isn't coming to the Bay Area this year.

I think you were trying to be provocative and stir up interest. Nothing wrong with that. Sounds like it's a business move and they are consolidating. I think there are more high end national recruits this year.

I agree more 2016 national recruits overall D1 recruits I gotta favor 2015.

Tagaloa, Asiasi, Thompson, Parker, Williams, and Co Johnson are national recruits and (besides Parker) are ranked higher than anybody at their position last year. The depth will be determined.

Exactly. 2016 could have more our just as much talent than 2015. Not sure where he got this. The composition of positions may be a little different but the talent is there.

At this point Thompson and Parker are not yet national recruits. They may be eventually though.

Valley Christian has at least 3 D1 recruits, and probably a couple more.

C. Johnson - a national recruit (committed to Texax)

Morian Walker - will probably be a national recruit

Akil Jones, LB/RB

and a couple others a lineman and TE.

Should be an average year for elite talent. There won't be all the offensive lineman like last season or that stud QB or two we see every year. NCSF is right about all the names he posted. There are some studs in Nor Cal next year!

Nor Cal- I would think that makes VC the prohibitive favorite in the WCAL?

VC has a pretty good QB coming up Miles Kendrick who will be a junior. Very mobile and decent passer. Some decent size on the line. They will have a good core of players. If they play defense, they will be tough.

Serra is going to be very good. They have lots of talent in senior and junior class. Maybe the team to beat if they stay healthy.

Bells have some good skill players as well and were young. Good QB and speed at the skill positions.

It is looking like these three teams will be favorites in the WCAL. Early to tell though who will win it. I don't think any team goes undefeated next season in league so maybe co-champs.

Coach said he'd recommend for Nike but it filled up quickly, was going to L.A. but we're .doing BlueGrey on Saturday. Pretty good group going.

Any idea how many Grizzlies plan to attend the BlueGrey, HAS? Good luck to your son.

Just Ryan, 3 were invited. Also looking at Rivals, San Diego or Nevada.

Met your sons running back and head coach when visiting our daughter, very excited about your son.

Thanks HAS and it sounds like you're making some good decisions regarding Ryan's future in football. Early indications are that the Cal Poly coaching staff is top notch. We cannot be more excited.

Palma's QB Jack Richardson, 6-4, 200, had a very strong recent rivals QB challenge camp in southern CA and while under the radar is hearing from Cal, Colorado, Stanford, Washington, Harvard and Cornell. As a junior he had 1,947 yards passing (3rd all time Palma), 19 TDs (3rd all time Palma) and 7 INTs. He's at least a 3 star from what I have seen.

This looks promising, at least college coaches are in attendance.

In my eyes there is alot of D1 talent every year in Nor Cal that just gets overlooked. Its up to the players and parents to help a kid get exposure. Camps, school camps and making sure film is sent out is key early in the recruiting process. Alot of kids that have camped at specific schools for multiple years have a greater chance of getting an offer. You have to also get a profile set up through rivals as well as 247sports. I know people have problems with the star rating, but if you look at all the 3 star players, even low three stars almost all of them will be playing D1 ball. Get on the phones and bug these coaches and recruiting evaluators!! Im speaking from experience. Nothing is guarenteed, but it will only help.

Which site has given him stars? I can not find one that has given him any.

Truer words were never spoken, PAL. Another thing that parents need to train their mind for is their the son the height, weight and/or speed they want at the next level? I know none of this measure one's heart but if you're an offensive lineman under 6' there's a good chance you will be overlooked unless you are one helluva high school center. If you're a defensive tackle you can't be much under 6', Thomas Toki is an exception. I've seen him in person and question if he's really even 6' tall. However, he's a baller and deserves all the attention he gets. A great football player that doesn't project well to the D1 level is Miles Harrison. Absolute beast in high school but lack of foot speed has D1 programs passing on him. What you say about stars is true but one needs to be careful of the star system. There are many two star players that probably deserve to be three stars and some three stars that should probably be two stars and so on........

A great deal has to do with Geography, program reputation, amount of camps attended. A 3 star in rural Northern California might be a 4 star at Long Beach Poly. A low 4 star in the west might be a high 4 star in the southeast . Go to a rivals camp and you might be graded higher in Rivals than you do in Scout. Get recruited by an SEC team and you will end up Ranked higher than if you go to Boise simply for the fact that most of these groups are placating the subscribers- the biggest amount who are coming from the southeast.

Plenty of 2 star guys who could even be 4 star save for the fact that they didn't attend a big camp and they don't have film yet on them. The best coaches get 3 star guys who should be 4 star guys but trust their own eyes. Conversely, plenty of 4 star guys who are combine warriors with great measurables but not productive football players. All this ranking stuff is just a starting point. There are only two rankings that will ever matter- the college team that will sign you to a LOI or walk-on and the pro team that drafts you.

Finally, there was a DE from Washington this year that missed a great part of the last two seasons due to injury. He sent out his tape and marketed himself. Guess what- He got a scholarship to Cal.

I hear you bubba regarding the stars. Even two stars pull in FBS offers as well.I have noticed that some kids dont even have a profile set up until senior year and by that time it could be too late with all the early commitments going on. You have to act early and fast and dont depend on a coach to do it. Not to knock the coaches, but trust me some could do alot more work in getting kids offers, but some could care less. All it takes is phone calls and emailing some film out. Its not the old days where you had to mail a vhs tape! Lol You are spot on about the size factor. I just think alot of athlete types whether that be a db or wr are being left hanging in Nor Cal. The talent is here.

Good and accurate post NCSF. One thing I want to make clear. In my opinion it's the no star guys that often win league championships in high school. Guys that for whatever reason don't get recruited but CAN PLAY FOOTBALL! A big heart goes a long long way on a youth and/or high school football field.

AztecPadre Re: Lack of overall talent in Nor Cal class of 2016?

AztecPadre- "Which site has given him stars? I can not find one that has given him any."

My statement inferred it is my opinion. He's been doing lots of work and yes has been under the radar, but not any more. Several programs are interested and been in contact. I actually could see him going Ivy league as he is very academically focused. He's as good or better than many 3 star QBs I have seen. He may not end up with any stars, but probably is going to have some choices of where to play if he wants to pursue playing.

Bubba- I actually thought that was one of best posts

. I am one of those guys that spends way too much time on college football recruiting even though baseball is what I do.

Now that my own son's recruitment is over, I still find it hard to not follow college football recruiting. You learn so much throughout this process and as cool as it is, recruiters don't always play nice. ; > )

Case in point of 2 star deserving to be higher - QB David Fales Palma - broke almost every San Jose State University QB record and several league records and now backup at Chicago Bears. Not highly recruited (Reno and one other) due to not having prototype height (6-1) and not the fleetest.

Could it be that Fales is a late bloomer like Mark Grieb? The star system is flawed at best.

For some reason Fales was always under the radar. I could see why out of high school. Didnt really get asked to do much after becoming the starter midway through the year as a junior. Then the summer going into his senior year he committed to Nevada. That was his only offer. Had several D1 schools interested though. Then Nevada told him if they found out he was talking to any other schools still they would yank his scholarship offer. Had Fales not committed to Nevada early I think he would have had several more offers by the end of his senior year. If you watch his senior year highlight tape you can see how impressive he was. After returning to MPC he still didnt get much love. After splitting time with the previous years QB for most of the year in his first year at MPC he got pretty much zero interest. Almost walked on at Wyoming (has family there) but decided not to after they offered Brett Smith and not him. Returned to MPC for his 2nd year and still was getting little interest after a good year. SJSU and I believe it was Indiana St. were the only teams that showed much interest. SJSU recruited him late due to Tate Forcier screwing up. Coach Deflippo (now the Browns OC) worked him out and knew immediately that he was the guy he wanted. Then he goes to SJSU and rewrites their record books and puts the program back on the map.

I dont think Jack Richardson will go Ivy league unless thats his best offer. Ya academics play a big role for him but thats because the kids dream school is Stanford (where both his parts went and played sports). I think he will get some D1 offers. I know hes doing a hand full of camps this summer so hopefully that will get some programs interested in him. On a side note he has a younger brother who i believe is going to be an 8th grader could be a pretty good QB as well. Im sure Norcal has a full scouting report on him already lol

Stars dont really mean much to me. there are a ton of kids with 2-3 stars that go on and have a huge impact at the next level. If you dont play in a top league and in a well known area its hard to get exposure. Cant be afraid to make your own highlight tape and send it out to colleges. If you cant get the exposure through the recruiting media then just have to try to do it yourself.

I recall from when I talked with Fales the summer before his senior year, he had interest from Colorado and Utah ad I believe Washington. He visited them. None came through and he went with the Reno offer even though the offense didn't seem a good fit in my opinion (Alt tended to go with mobile QBs and was surprised they offered him). Fales also camped at San Jose State and it is kind of funny to me that they had a great chance of signing him (although they had a very good QB at the time). If they had only known what he would become at the time although different coach and staff then. :) What impressed me about Fales as a high schooler (outside of is QB abilities) was his work ethic to get better and his focus and presence in the pocket. Just a great kid and mature for his age. He wasn't asked to do much at Palma, but he did have some impressive camps. He had a great DeBartolo camp outperforming several known HS QBs and later D1 commits. I think one issue was that the schools he visited they already had a pipeline of QBs in the system or they went with a higher profile QB. He was under the radar until the summer before his senior year.

As for the younger Richardson, he seems to be following his brother's path. He is going to be tall like his brother and seems he is being groomed to play QB. Unlike his older brother whom my brother coached in youth league, I haven't seen him play yet. Not sure if he will have the same skill set. If he works like his brother, no reason he isn't going to be a good high school QB at least. There will be at least 3 other Palma QBs before he would have a shot at starting if he is playing at Palma.

One thing you can count on is for San Jose State to underachieve when it comes to recruiting locally.
