Lincoln Travels to Northgate, lookin’ for a win to steal…

Here’s my game of the night…

25-5 Lincoln of Stockton is at Northgate in a Round 1 game of the NorCal Division 1 tournament.

Northgate is 20-8. They are a higher seed, but lost to Lincoln in their meeting at the Torrey Pines tournament back in December.


Yeah, but enough about the seedings…. The 16 teams that have made it this far are ALL very good or they wouldn’t be here.

The main worry for Northgate is…. Are they fading at the end of the year? They went fairly quietly to Campo and Miramonte in their last pair.

Lincoln, as well documented on here, damn near beat Campo in their meeting a few weeks ago.

I see one guy in street clothes for Lincoln; no idea if he’s a big piece or a small one. Wait, I see two. Once again, dunno how big a contributor he is.

Anyway, let the HOOPS begin!!

NG fouled, FT’s good…. 28-16.

Nice drive and score for NG…. 48-41. Getting loud in here…. But they need another burst to make a game out of it.

Two tries by Lincoln miss…. NG rebound…. Lincoln steal and score…

The fact that Lincoln was an 11 seed in the first place is a travesty. They have a better record and a head to head win against north gate yet are 5 spots below them is comical.

The seedings are in some cases whacko. (Lincoln as you stated) but what is worse is teams playing “down” divisions. Play in your division or up.

Crazy when public schools w/ huge enrollments or privates like Stuart Hall get placed in D4 / D5. I hate the competitive equity system and much preferred the old system which wasn't without its flaws which seem trivial now.

One of the issues is poor section seeding leads to poor NorCal seeding. Should Lincoln-Sheldon have met in a quarterfinal? Becuase one had to lose (Lincoln), it forces them down because you have to be behind Inderkum and Folsom based on that.

The only NCS team (and I mean only) that got a favorable seed was Campo, and they were the total overall best team in the section. The crazy part is they may have to face a rival and a team that just lost to them by 1 point a week ago in the 2nd round. De La played Campo will and gave them all they had and their reward is to play a 1st round game and if they win, play the same team they lost to in the NCS Open finals.

There were NCS teams that got to the championship of their respective divisions and earned 14, 16 and 12 seeds. Imagine getting to the championship game of your division and after you won you find out you are a 14 seed.

There were teams in some sections that actually lost in the 1st round of their divisional playoffs, who got in with at large bids and got seeded higher than teams in other sections that WON section championships.

It's just plain stupidity

Sheldon was a 5 Seed in D1 (SJS) how the hell are they in the Open a week later? Either the SJS seeding committee is terrible or the CIF seeding committee is terrible. (or possibly both)
