Folks, I recently saw a thread discussing local junior college quarterbacks. I'm wondering what your opinions are pertaining to players of other positions? I have read some positive press on former Cal High flanker/slot receiver CJ Cornwell at DVC. Has anyone heard anything about Drew Sullivan at DVC? I heard they converted him to center, but I haven't heard how it's working out? Also, any word on CSM transfer from Utah State Karris Johnson?

Ronnie Turner WR Seaside High/Hartnell JC has been getting a lot of looks. The big question with him will be can he get it done in the classroom.

I went to the 2nd half of last weeks DVC game.

Cornwell was a very good receiver IMO. Very active after making the catch, racked up quite a few extra yards.

Little harder to grade Sullivan at the C spot, just looked like a mess of bodies in the middle of the line.

Cornwell is a good football player. Size and lack of top end speed have been his biggest challenges.

I'm interested to see where Cameron Burston (Stellar prep/ Contra Costa College) ends up. He was a SJSU commit and a dominant High School player that didnt have the credentials to move on to college football. He currently has 12 TDs 0 INTs.

Impressive numbers

Burston is big time... He's got the size (6'4, 220 est.) the speed (4.4 est.) and can make every throw. Probably will go to any college he wants in a year or two

San Jose State still seems like a good fit. Id like to see him stay home. You think he's a one year juco guy. Or 2?

From what I've heard, Karris would like to be teammates with your son.

Check out these numbers for CJ Cornwell over at DVC. In the first four games he has caught 46 passes for 646 yards, that's a 16.1 yard average per catch. His longest catch is 72 yards for a touchdown and he has a total of 8 TD's. He caught 8 passes in his first game, 10 in his second, 11 in the third and 17 for 265 yards and 3 TD's in game four. Talk about getting out of the gate!

If he gets his grades right I can't imagine him playing two years at JC level. He has prototypical size and speed for D1.

Great start for Cornwell!!! Unfortunately I see the D1 schools passing on him because of his size and speed, more quick than fast, but he'd be a steal for any D2. Remember several years back Foothill grad Cameron Rowland was putting up video game numbers at DVC and got little to no recruiting love. Interesting enough Cornwell's little brother is a freshman at Foothill... yet another San Ramon kid playing in Pleasanton. Foothill has a great pipeline going just over the county line...

It seems that Foothill is the school of choice for parents who want their son to avoid the run first offense at Cal High. I agree there will probably be no D1 love but D2 and D3 may be solid choices.

Cal's passing way more than I ever remember.

Rowland has turned out to be a pretty good LHP. Great example of how DNA size does not dictate entry into NCAA D1. He's at UNR now after Chabot and Howell, a predecessor of his at Chabot, was drafted last June from the Wolfpack by Billy Beane.
So there is school "choice" after all wanted by so many voucher parents! Some of those kids (i.e. their parents) who seek greener pastures are simply hopeful. They "hope" a spread offense will get them more looks. It can. Does it guarantee that D1 ultra offer. No way. You've got to prove that. That 2012 E11 from the 680 has transferred twice and as a RSJr is now the backup to a soph at a mid-major. I doubt that was in the plan when he got his Pac12 offer his Jr year.
