McClatchy won the rubber match against Sac High Wednesday night, winning two out of three for the season against Sacramento. This game was at Sac High. McClatchy lost at home to Sac High a couple weeks ago. Jordan Cruz played for McClatchy. Both teams should be seeded highly in their respective divisions.

Let's say Sacramento wins SJS D2 -- does an eight-loss team go Open?

Let's say Folsom wins SJS D1, and does not opt up to Open (and why would anyone do that?), does the SJS D1 runnerup go Open? Or do no SJS teams go Open?

Clay,
Question: Is the reason why Folsom must opt up for the Open division is because they don't meet the CIF criteria to be considered for the Open?
I think Folsom will stay D1 since the girl's team has no history being in the Open and no history winning the D1 title (unlike the boys team). Folsom's non-league schedule was not that challenging. Their MaxPreps ranking is high because they play in a strong league, giving them a high schedule strength.

For Sacramento, I see them staying in D2. Hard to see an eight-loss team going to the Open, and I would think they would want to stay in D2.

Correct ... Folsom wasn't in NorCals three years ago, so they don't qualify -- though precisely what that has to do with this year's team is unclear.

I'm not looking at it, but I think all three of Folsom's losses came when Forbes didn't play.

And should state titles, or lack thereof, be a factor? If so, Miramonte should definitely be D2, as they have never won one.
