Chavez, a 2021 safety, is now at Folsom. He had 61 tackles as a juior for the Rams.

This St. Mary's to Folsom transfer line happened last year too with Asar Alim-Moore

Ironic, transferring from a well established large private to a public. It’s typically the other way around, especially in SoCal and the Bay area.

In normal times yes. Decision might be driven by economics. The bills, mortgage/ rent will still be due(even if deferred). When will work, my job start back up?
My kid went to a private school, based on current scenario, not sure he would've been able to return.
Thankfully he is done, with college too!
Now he is off my payroll and actually contributing to Mom & Dad's well being while making his own way in this new normal.

Lots of scouts at practice.....and great tie in to Sac State coaches...still a great place to be in spite of all of the hopes and wishes to the contrary

Things could get interesting with transfers from private to public with the current pandemic. Looking at it from an economical standpoint.

Well established privates I think will not only survive but get stronger during pandemic. Public’s are going to be in a world of hurt with lost funding and programs cut. Also privates don’t have to play by the politics of the state of calif. Smaller privates will be hurt though and I wouldn’t doubt some go under.

This sums it up really well.

I'd add that public school programs with good infastructure (coahces/fundraising/organization) will hold steady for awhile.

I wouldn’t bank on it, at least in the Bay Area. I wasn’t shocked, but concerned/disappointed my two players alma mater couldn’t field a frosh team in ‘19. This was a team that almost beat deLa-twice- and met them at the Coliseum, twice, all since ‘07. Maybe the new coach turns over a new leaf and families get excited again so Streak would be spot on for publics outside the Bay.

Both sides will be impacted when schools reopen, public and private. For safety reasons many parents will elect to keep their kids at home regardless what the governor/health officials say. When schools open back up they will need to maintain the remote learning option they have in place (at least for a year if not permanently) or they will definitely see a reduction in their attendance number/budget. If schools do not make these accommodations, Kids will transfer else where or sign up for an online charter school like Visions. Or withdraw from the district altogether and elect to homeschool. The business of schooling will look much different moving forward. Those that embrace changes and look for new and inventive ways to educate will be more successful than those who do not.

Yes, but until they go independent, they will have to play with the CIF.
Here's wishing you great football.
