Not sure if I missed this being talked about, but was surprised when I was going over their schedule today.

Personally, this makes a lot of sense as it would for other top teams. 60+ point league games really do nobody any good. And its easier to find tournaments and one off games in basketball than football for instance.

I think O'Dowd, with 100 straight league wins, might be a good candidate.

I would agree.

McClatchy is the Metro is another one I thought of too.

first I've heard also. seems like a good move. some of their league blowouts were embarrassing to read about. kids at below-average programs still work hard, and deserve opportunities to feel good about their efforts. a loss is one thing, a 60-point loss something else.

Actually it has been Sac High girls that really dominated the Metro over the years. McClatchy girls was only recently about 4-5 years ago with Gigi Garcia to get over the hump of finally able to compete with Sac High. Before that, Sac girls dominated the Metro and probably didnt lose a game for over a decade. Now that Sac has left the Metro, the longest rivalry in Sacramento will be no more.

Yes, but I was talking about going forward. I think McClatchy league games the past few years minus Sac High haven't been pretty. But you are correct that they have less history in this position.
