Good crowd. I like the venue a lot. Great atmosphere. I missed the earlier games

Salesian 25
Bosco 21

Half.

Really ugly game. Lots of fouls and no flow. Bosco plays hard and has some athletic players but not a lot of skill. Salesian should have put them away earlier. James Alinjo is big time. He had 30 of there 45.

Salesian plays some of the best man D I can recall.

Salesian 45
Bosco 36

DLS 17
Harvard west lake 20

Half. DLS got down 8-0 but came back. Cassius Stanley is ridiculous athletic. But at this point more athlete than hoop player.

DLS always tough at this venue.
They beat a very good Harvard Westlake team. #33 for DLS was outstanding.

DLS 43
Harvard Westlake 41

Cassius Stanley great athlete and elite defender but still has a lot of work to do as a basketball player. But only s soph which is scary.

Oh god I didn't know that... 2 year hold back. Sounds almost funny

Very entertaining last game. Capital and odowd have so much young talent. When they get it all together that will be scary.

21 CC
16 odowd after 1

Dela can really defend I was impressed they don't have a A flat out stud but they
grind you out on defense and are very patient on offense .They run good stuff
and get quality looks on offense its going to be one he'll of a game next week with them and
dublin

DLS put on a clinic against Harvard West Lake. It was a david vs goliath. I'm not saying Dublin is the favorite after watching tonight.

Btw, CC won by about 16 over Odowd. They almost scored 100.

Harvard Westlake was playing without 6'7" freshman standout Johnny Juzang, who is averaging 15.8 pts per game and has an offer from Bama. The 6'6" soph Stanley scored a lot, but took too many shots without their #2 option available. Credit DLS for coming back from an 8-0 deficit to get the W.

HW will be unbelievable in a year or 2 as these kids become juniors and seniors. Besides those 2, they had 2 other freshman with significant playing time; 6'5" Terrence Frank and 6'9" Mason Hooks.

Prefer the MLK Classic at St Mary's McKeon rather than @ Cal's Haas. Not sure why it was switched this year but hopefully it will continue there in the future. Great venue, more intimate for the number of fans who show up

Totally agree about St Mary's. Easy parking and up front seating. You forget about how nice that campus is. DLS is better than I expected them to be. On any given night in Norcal I think they can win beat the likes of woodcreek, Sheldon, salesian, etc. Stanley is a joy to watch float around the court but pure hoop iq isn't there yet. Very impressed with CC.

DLS would not have beaten HW if they had Johny Juzang . He argueably could be their best overall player. Harvard beat both Woodcreek and Capital Christian by 9 points. Sheldon beat HW twice but one of those games Johnny had 25.

Do you know the rules of Georgia where Kyree started school?
Does it matter... he will have to abide by CA rules,Which I believe are still, 8 semesters of eligibility once you start HS. And you cannot play play at all if you turn 20 at any time during the school year.

Honestly the best player I watched in person was the PG for Salesian. Akinjo. I thought he was super. Strong with the ball, poised, knock down shooter, and hit key FT. Only a Jr too. Should get some big offers.

Colleges I saw there. (I'm sure there were more)
CAL
Nevada
UCD
Sac State
St Marys
Santa Clara
UOP

You called him a 2 year hold back. He will not be 20 in high school. He turned 16 in November of 2016. So he will be eligible to play.

Don't forget about the CSEB coach in attendance, who also happens to be the brother of the DLS head coach.

Just for information's sake, he was born on 8/18/99 according to NBADraft.net. Y'all can discuss that if you'd like. Me, I'll just watch him play until he's not eligible, if that happens.

Good knowledge. Were you sitting in front of us ?
We were a few rows behind the press table and this fellow sitting in front of us was a walking Wikipedia of local HS & college sports. Always great to sit near someone with current knowledge and roots back to the days when we were young and dumb(er)

Like I’ve been saying DLS is really good. Orr, O’dea, Udenyi all can play at the next level. Probably D2 / D3 but all could play there if they have the desire. Plus having Headly, Savarini & Pratt (Jr) playing with them, very few teams in Nor Cal has a nucleus like that. 1/26 will decide the NCS D1 #1 Seed when Dublin heads to Sparty.

Hard to believe anybody's age anymore. Grown men driving to practice as "freshman" 2 year holdbacks.... The world needs more danny almonte.

No, that wasn't me. I was in the cheap seats across the way.

How are you a freshman and you were born in 1999. If people are celebrating that... you all need to attend a Ethics class. One year ok, but two years ridiculous.

I was 14 as a freshman, he's 17?

That's a 3 year holdback, if true

You guys realize that this is not uncommon right? There are countless players who turn 16 as freshmen. This has happened for years

Where do you get your info from. NBA DRAFT.NET has his birthday as 11/20/00 not what you have

Anyway... The main thing I was thinking about as I left the gym... "Has O'Dowd EVER given up 98 in a game, win or lose?"

Answer: Never until now, at least not in the MaxPreps era.
Sacramento has this to hang their high-flying hats on, too... They scored 10 more against O'Dowd than Chino Hills did last month.

Hard to believe that team has 7 losses... I know they had a tough sked... Injuries too, maybe?

No one has more talent than Capital. However, there are some carbon copies throughout the roster that neutralizes some of that talent.

Just results based, it is alarming that Capital beat Mitty in a close game in Mitty and then Mitty hammered them in Palm Springs.

I'm taking Woodcreek this year. Hard to argue CC talent but woodcreek is extremely well coached and has plenty of college players on that roster that will take them very far this year. They are a well oiled machine. Should be fun with Sheldon, Salesian, and a few others in the mix.

No, that wasn't me. I was in the cheap seats across the way.

I should have done the same thing... Those "stadium seats" at St. Mary's are less comfortable than bleachers... The seats I *really* wanted were those cushy seats above the basket... I've sat there before, fantastic viewing, super-comfortable for my aging buttocks. Alas, those were "hospitality" only. :(

Anyway... the NorCals are going to be *very* interesting this year, and in all divisions. Not really a clear-cut favorite, not even Woodcreek is all that heavy a favorite. However, if I had to bet now, they'd likely be my choice to make it to State in the Open.

Unfortunately, SoCal looks even stronger than usual this year, and probably in all divisions.

kiddman, nobody was even sitting in those seats above the rim either. Sort of lame.
You never know about favorites. DLS was really underdogs against Chino last year and they played them better than just about anybody. I think it was tied at points during the 3rd. Woodcreek, Salesian, and Sheldon are all more talented than last year DLS team.

Some of the referees were sitting up there during the day, and there was a few VIPs up there for the DLS game, but for the most part, the best seats in the house (other than on the floor) went empty. Kind of a shame. During the NCS playoffs, all the seats in the house are just one price at SMC and those seats are available to whoever gets there first.

its hard not to feel that sac teams are a cut above at the moment. Bay Area teams are not impressing me. There's time, but not much.

youseechief- I can't argue that. capital, Sheldon, and woodcreek look to be the top dogs. Salesian might not have the size this year. You gotta have some bigs.

VIPS at a hs game? I didn't see coach calipari or K there.... Gimme a break.

DLS is no where near the level of their past teams. Talent is way down.
Salesian will win the open this year.
Several teams stronger than DLS in the division 1section.

It's all relative. Not VIP coaches, but donors and people that help support DLS and that MLK event.
Whatever you want to call them, they got the cushy seats while the rest of us sat in the less comfortable ones.
