In the MLB.com mock draft, it has Elk Grove OF Derek Hill going No. 17 to Kansas City. Stanford 3B Alex Blandino (St. Francis) is slotted at No. 26 to Boston.

In the Baseball America mock draft, Hill is slotted to the local San Francisco Giants at No. 14 and Blandino would stay in the Bay Area with the Oakland A's at No. 25.

Both mocks have the San Diego Padres as having strong interest in Hill. He was also mentioned as have the best speed among the high school prospects in the draft.

Hoping it happens. Been fortunate to know both young men and they are what big-leaguers look like at their age. Outstanding young men on and off the field.

I think what gets lost in all these equasions (correct me if I am wrong). Yes, quality baseball prospects also have a respect for the game and themselves and character plays a siginificant part in selections (and eventual success going forward).

Yep, and being a 6'4" lefty pitcher or switch hitting catcher helps too.

Vibes- The talent is what gets them in the door and the character is what keeps them there. Trust me, the more money they are throwing at you these days, the more background research they are doing on these guys.
