At a park today with my daughter outside the BVAL area, I heard a kid playing football with his friends say "we don't need to pass the ball, let's just NAJEE HARRIS them"
I thought it was AWESOME! He's a Verb!
A legend in the making?
I later spoke with a Heritage teacher that taught him in middle school and said he's a humble and very nice boy, and he continues to be, I love that! Another person had mentioned that he was technically homeless....

I'm a fan. Not to mention him going for 400+.

The guy should go to a mid - level program, become a god there and then go #1 in the draft after he averages 300 yards per game in college. We have to think dollars here. He could be 2-3 years and done.

He's only a junior and has already accepted an offer from Alabama. He's going to be fine if he can tear up SEC defenses.

I wonder who's going to schedule Antioch on their pre-season slate next year :)

Oh weird, for some reason Rivals has him listed in the class of 2017, even though he's a senior.

This was talked about before. He was 16 last October based on a MaxPreps feature. That should make him 18 next fall in at least October of his senior year.

"A student, whose 19th birthday is attained prior to June 15, shall not participate or practice on any team in the following school year. "

Anyone know if he's going to turn 19 before June 15 of next year? That would mean he will be going to Alabama as a 20 year old freshman, which seems kind of old.

Edit: nvm, Streak One clarified it

Thanks for clarifying streak, must have been wishful thing from all the BVAL coaches

He is a junior
he gets to play all this year and next year

he is currently 17
he will be 18 his entire senior season

don't know why some individuals tried to start this rumor to tarnish the kid's name

Tarnish the kids name? Were just trying to figure things out EBD, pretty sure we were just praising the young man.

Oh no I wasn't talking about the people here. This board is fairly positive. Some BVAL coaches started that rumor at my sons school, they're who I was referring to

17,18,19,20 that guy is a beast and will be a beast in college. He put up big time numbers last year and even if that were his senior year he would be a top back in Cali and going to a big time school. Instead of knocking or questioning we should be enjoying this elite talent in the Bay Area!

I have a sneaking feeling that Alabama will make Najee a defensive end or a linebacker, and that we probably won't see him as a featured back. SEC likes to take these phenomenal athletes (usually big RB's or big Safeties) and turn them into Clowney type rushers. Florida, Florida State, Alabama and LSU all have done this type of thing in the past.

I doubt Bama takes a top 3 5 star RB and converts him to defense lol Eddie lacy, Trent Richardson , Henry, TJ Yeltdon are all big backs who had immense success at Bama

Harris should think about possibly making the switch himself. I pulled up the top 10 rushing leaders from last season and here are the listed height/weights.

DeMarco 6 214
Bell 6'2 230
Shady 5'10 215
Marshawn 5'11 215
Forsett 5'8 190
Foster 6'0 232
Lacy 5-11 231
Hill 6-1 233
Gore 5'9 215
Miller 5'11 215

Also found a dated article about the top 50 running backs with their listed BMI, height, and weight. The average height and weight for the top 50 running backs by yards drafted after 1970 is 72 inches and 216 pounds. Harris is already at the top end of that as a junior in high school. I'm interested to see an updated list because some of the backs over 73 inches played back in the day possibly skewing how things are currently http://www.pro-football-reference.com/blog/?p=489

Barring some sort of disaster Harris will be playing for millions of dollars in a few years playing whatever position he chooses. The question is does he have the potential to earn more money at another position? If he grows 2 more inches or gains 10 pounds what does that do to his earning potential?

Whatever he chooses I hope he doesn't allow Alabama to turn him into a stiff bodybuilder. Watching him elude tacklers in the box is a thing of beauty. I hope he keeps that flexibility, elusiveness, speed, and explosiveness the way it is. Alabama's current back Henry is listed at 6'3 242. Alabama loves those big backs but does his future employer the NFL love them?

He's still growing I can easily see him being an Adrian Peterson/Todd Gurley type of RB.

He's actually taller right now than both of those backs. I just watched some AP high school highlights and there are allot of similarities.

I also heard he is academic junior but will be too old to play senior year. Either way phenomenal talent and will play back at Bama

Could be like DJ Williams when he arrived at Mismi... So talented he had to see the field as a Frosh and later moved to his best position.

This issue about Harris' age?

Everyone knows that a human in dog's life (say, compared to a 2.5 year old dog x 7 years) makes the dog and the human about 17.5 years old. And anyone who knows about the toll that football takes on young men who play the sport, especially young men who carry the ball a lot and also, eventually, get hit, kneed, tackled, hammered a lot, age faster than young hschool men who hang around the sidelines flirting with the gals while there buddies are out there getting beat-up on the green grid of pain and getting older and older each quarter.

So, for a person who, birth-wise is 17-18, it means that using the (HWRBADP) heavily whacked running back age-dating process he's actually 26 years old, so, no wonder Najee Harris so crazy good and why kids whacking and drumming on each other on the playground, who birth-wise are 9-10 years old, will actually be 18-19 years old on the Najee Harris Age-Dating Spectrum and why these kids are always given academic scholarships to attend De La Salle, or so the argument goes.

Hope that makes thing as clear as... Muds
