Napa 38 - Wood 21

Looks like Napa is the real deal this season lets see if they are able to get past Granite Bay in the playoffs as they been eliminated by them the last two or three years.

Good game for Wood this will help them learn and improve in a few more things as they hadn't lost this season yet and this helps them see what level they are really at as they faced a very tough defensive team tonight.

It was ugly, Napa came ready and set the tone early then continued to grind it out. Now Wood has to sit back and hope their Rivals Vacaville can do what they couldn't and take Napa down to keep their MEL Championship hopes alive. Nothing worse than leaving your destiny in another teams hands, especially your Rivals. Wood has to get the Defense clicking if they want a deep run into the post season they cant keep giving up 30+ points a game that's hard to overcome even with the scoring machine they have on offense. I must say this is the worse I've seen the offense play yet. The line flat out got dominated, I'm sure the coaches will be looking to improve the line play this week. They picked the worse possible team to have a bad game against.

I was at the game, Wood had a bad game because Napa dominated them on both sides of the ball, when you can't run or stop the pass rush you're going to have a bad game.
Woods defense is not bad, they played well last night but gave up too much size in the trenches. #44 is a great player, kids got a great motor and passes the eye test too.

Wood seriously got dominated in the trenches. I'm sure the coaching staff will be getting their line play going for the future games, they seem to make good adjustments unfortunately not against Napa. It's good to see more than 2 teams in the MEL, hope they can continue in the future.

Wood is way too finesse to make a deep run at winning a section title

Napa is not physical enough unfortunately.

Any team that can consistently put up 50 points can make a run at the section title. Question is can they do it against tougher teams? Did they have an off game against the wrong team or have they been hiding behind a weak schedule? Did they learn from the Napa beating? Only time will tell. Sometimes all it takes is a little butt kicking to humble a team and then only then can they achieve their maximum potential. I'm betting the coaching staff rights the ship and wins out reg season. Although I believe that elusive MEL title has slipped through their fingers.

I was skeptical ever since they gave up 42 to an average BOD team

It is high school football so there is the distinct possibility that BOD played up or Wood played down. There were many long pass completions on both sides of the ball both programs need to work out the kinks in their pass coverage. I still feel Wood has not peaked yet and will get better, especially with the loss coming from Napa it brought them back to reality now they know it won't be handed to them. MC415 were you at the BOD game?

Gotta agree with Polemic. With this loss, hopefully Wood definitely improve on their Line Play on both sides. I knew it depended on the trenches. Did not know whom Wood face that was as physical as Napa. Ok, Vaca beat Napa! Wood it's up to you where ya wanna go from here.....

I was at this game. Wood was never in it, and was lucky for Napa stalling on their first drive. I don't see Wood going deep in the playoffs unless they shore up their defense big time. I don't know what Vacaville brings to the table, but I do know they are always well coached and have a solid game plan. This game will go a long way in deciding who will represent the MEL as the #1 seed from the MEL.

Vaca has a long road ahead to secure #1 seed 3 games with 2 being very good teams. Coach Pop better get out his magic potion. It can be done it's just the most difficult path of the top three teams. Let's not count Vintage out just yet, they could win out and be dream Crushers!

Careful Wing Man! Humility is a good thing.
They are woefully under coached, they lost to Davis and got into a shootout with Bethel. They are not a good D1 / D2 team by anyone's standards. That was not an arrogant comment, it was truthful.

They scored 24 of them in the 4th against their 2's and 3's
Obviously there is a huge drop off from their 1's and 2's/3's. They need to stay healthy to make a run at post season. I wonder if Vintage left their 1's in the whole game even when a win seemed futile.
