Napa's Defense?

Greetings all,

Just wondering how Napa's Defense fairs against Spread, Wing T, I Formation and other offenses being used out there. Napa did well against Vacaville last year (League Opponent). Would like more info before the Wood Game-tia!

Napa's D struggled vs Campo who runs a pro style with some 4 wide and some I. If they couldn't cover those Wrs (which they struggled with however had a few picks) they will have no chance vs Woods Spread. Woods Qb is better and the Wrs are WAAAY better. Not to mention the Backs who will be the best they have seen or will see with exception of (and this is a big maybe) Vacaville's Wright. He has been lighting up the field according to stats and looked great on JV last season. Wood will stack the box just like they did VS Burbank and Elk Grove last season. Napa's QB still finds seams in the D and will have over 150 yards but it wont be enough. Wood will take control late 2nd half to win it. Napa's only hope is turnovers.

Thanks Polemic. Napa played Pitman-Turlock...do they still run the Wing T. Wut did Montgomery-Santa Rosa run? Vanden run the Spread too?

Wood will be in D2 no matter what. They are placed according to school size. Napa will go D1 and Wood D2.

Pitman still runs wingT, and Montgomery runs mostly 4 wide spread but not wide gaps on line. Vanden spread.

I was at the Campo game, to say they struggled is a reach. Napa held them to 14 points.

Yeah and they gave up 59 points to the Herd in a losing effort.

Both Campo and Pitman stacked the box in the first quarter, it was clear that was not working and they loosened up the D after the first drive. To be entirely honest, Wood is not in the same defensive category as Pitman or Campo

Vanden runs the Spread? Wow...they did well under Haynes...Napa still running the Triple Option? If so, wut Defense wud ya run on them?

I would run a 5-5-2. stack the box and sneak an extra guy out. Run cover 2 man under press/hold and tackle EVERYBODY as soon as the ball is snapped!!! lol What would you run, and why?
