NCS Brackets are live

Was just gonna jump in with that news...

As expected, #1 and #2 in Open are Campo and DLS. Loooonnnnnnnggggg wait til' the 23rd.

CVC has a legit chance to win D1, especially with DV having fallen off the table since Sevilla's injury. If he's still out by the time DV gets to the expected 3rd-round game vs. Liberty, that's likely as far as they get.

All 6 Open teams from the EBAL & DFAL. SPSV with 1 loss goes to D3.

I'm more than a little surprised the NCS went this way, despite the rankings I quoted elsewhere. Haven't even looked at D3 yet (I'll get there soon), but even before looking, SPSV looks like a monster in D3.

Looked now... #1 seed, yeah... Gotta be a heavy favorite in that group...

Open looks like a DFAL/ EBAL challenge. Should have mixed it up with SPSV and Odowd or Moreau. Anyone know how many teams qualify for State playoffs from each division?

Thats fine I guess for SPSV. Not sure I completely understand the methodology behind the seedings though. SPSV beat Salesian twice and they just beat Vallejo by 50 points. Yet those two teams are in division 2? If someone knows, please explain to me.... But it is what it is. Lets go Bruins!

Not sure….SRV beat Granada (open) twice and each of the 5 EBAL teams placed in D1 and were still placed in D2. They finished 3rd in EBAL, but yet every team that finished below them were placed in open or D1. 🤔

Salesian is in D2 because they won D3 and had to move up. Vallejo in D2 because of their attendance. Salesisn would be d4 if by attendance. SPSV might have to move up next year. In NCS, division is predetermined at start of season. Except Open, SPSV had a strong case for being 1 of the Open teams

Predetermined…..good to know.

Thanks. That definitely brought some clarity to the process.

Well I guess Miramonte squeezed in there due to their strength of schedule? Or was it because of the demographic? Sorry, had to say it..... Lol. Can't ever rule it out....

Or maybe it’s because they’re 22-4 and have beaten Serra, University, Folsom, Northgate, CVC, SRV & King, and only lost to the top team in NorCal by 5 last night?

Id expect that answer. Wonder what the diversity #s on the selection committee is like? Bad take on that too? Lol. I doubt it....

Might need to bring the Reverend Al Sharpton in on this issue..... Lol.
But at the end of the day, you just gotta play whose in front of you.
Thats the situation. But at the same time, since there are many excuses to make for choosing or not choosing a team. Give us the diversity #s on the selection committee!

I don’t know what ur talking about really ? You’re making a talking point that Miramonte got in due to their demographics and that maybe they weren’t deserving of the Open ? Breakdown their resume on why not ?

It's very clear what I'm talking about. Go on maxpreps and look at the rankings in multiple categories if you want breakdowns. The question I asked again is............. What are the diversity #s on the selection committee? If no one can honestly answer that question, then we can kill this thread. And for the record, I have nothing at all bad to say about Miramonte. They've had a great season and I wish the well. They got a nice team, I watched them play in the summer. Its not about them, its about the selection process.

Most first-round game tickets are live on GoFan...

I've grabbed my Wednesday and Thursday spots already, but the ones I am leaning to for Tuesday aren't up yet for some reason.

Anyway, Wednesday will find me at American Canyon to see them face Cardinal Newman, should be an interesting clash-of-style kind of ball game.

Thursday, I'll be at Dublin for their battle with Northgate.

if the committee is more diverse, and then they picked teams of ethnicity over merit. Isnt that sort of the same issue?

RAMS ARE SUPER BOWL CHAMPS!!!!!! COMPTONS IN THE HOUSE!!!!

I've heard it many times: Alleging racism when it doesn't exist only weakens the cause.

The top nine teams in NCS according to Maxpreps were all in the EBAL and DFAL. They chose six of those.

Look nobody alleged outright racism. But what's funny is how people always says it doesn't exist.
That's an entire different subject that we don't need to go into. Not on this basketball site, because that's an issue that's bigger than high school basketball. And unfortunately it does exist.

And its not about the 6 teams they chose, its about the obvious exclusion of the one they did not choose.
But as I said, the team will play whose in front of them. But I guess we'll take your word for it. Racism doesn't exist... Gimmie a frreakin break!!! Also by the way, I never claimed racism. I just said what's the diversity #s on the selection committee? No response to that because everyone knows the answer. Aint no diversity on the committee. And where are the NCS offices. San Ramon right? We can go back and forth all you want. I suggested to kill the thread. I'm gonna say it like it is. Always will.

The 11.3 next to 19-1 is what sticks out. It is schedule strength. And SPSV’s 11.3 is the lowest out of the top 10 ranked teams. The committee is made up of people that know and watch a lot of basketball. I’m not saying they always make the right decisions, and I was one that felt SPSV was a lock for the Open, but schedule strength is always a factor.

I didn't say that racism doesn't exist, of course it does. But I just don't think that was any part of the board's decision. SPSV probably should have scheduled a couple more strong teams in non-league than they did.

But, yeah.. I somehow forgot that SPSV was rated #4 on MaxPreps. Big oops on my part.

And I've seen them play, they're a hell of a team. Also, I had them in Open in my post before the seedings came out... But mainly because I didn't think they'd go with representatives of just the two leagues despite the fact that they stood well out over the others.

but ones perception is their reality. so if he feels such then it is such to him. you probably are not qualified to diagnosis his thoughts and feelings. if you are, then help him. but to discredit him isnt fair or what a true psych would do.
but i do not think this was any form of racism or more appropriate discrimination. they made a tough decision and someone would be left out. just like ncaa tournament, bcs championship series. also when you are having humans decide on things other than the clear (records) there is a chance it could be skewed. that is why he asked to know the committee. we know our jury who is supposed to decide our fate. but surely the public doesnt need to know as i bet the coaches and ad knows.

Moses so now all you gotta do is head up to vallejo and tell them to use it as motivation. then they will get put in the open in norcals and can prove it.

Yes, they have a good chance of Open in Norcal if they kick butt in NCS. Bit of a longshot, but possible.

Not sure I completely understood the tone of this email. I only got a Bachelors degree, didn't quite make it to my Masters. Lol. With that said, I can agree with some of it. Hey at the end of the day, they gotta play whose in front of them. One game at a time. And the kids have nothing to prove to anyone. All they need to do is go out and continue to have fun and enjoy their season. They've made the City of Vallejo and their fans proud already. Just as proud as Kiddman32 is of his Cougars.

Buttttt. Let's not get it twisted and act like shady practices, favoritism, & illegal activities don't exist:

Oh yea, and it wouldn't hurt to get a brotha or two on that committee. Just makes for good business. Lol. Anyway, it'll be a fun month. Go Bruins and good luck to all teams fortunate enough to experience post season play!

there isnt anything subliminal in there.

From a close source to the program, they don’t want to play open. Their lack of size will be a challenge in the open division, but in D3 they can make a run at the state.
i feel this way too. but i didnt know that open teams automatically go to the state tournament. so there is some sort of reason to get to the open.

Even playing NCS D3, they could easily be D1 in NorCal, but more likely D2 IMO. I understand D3 is a better path for a section title, but hard to not want an automatic ticket to NorCals.

I wish the NCS committee would have made some slight tweaks to the seeding in D1, so that 2 games don’t involve repeats of EBAL league meetings. MV (11) at Cal (6) , and Foothill (10) at Amador (7) should have been avoided in the first round.

People are forgetting that CIF is now seeded by how good a team is. For instance a bad D3 team could find themselves a high seed in D5, and a team like SPSV could will go no less than D2, I think more like mid-seed D1, with an outside shot at a low seed in the Open.

SPSV WILL NOT BE D3 in CIF. They have been far too good, and I agree with others. Strength of Schedule played a big part. We will see what they are made of in NCS as well as CIF after.

But the CIF Seeding is such a crap shoot. 16's can beat 1's, and there are some teams that make state that essentially just got a good break in how they were seeded.

No Difference really between the D1-D5 trophies. Open of course is a little bigger, but whoever wins that will be sacrificed to one of the Socal teams...most likely Sierra Canyon!
