DLS put the screws on defensively tonight for a 3rd straight win over Monte Vista. Spartans held Monte Vista to one point in the third quarter.

Ugly game. Peters was only player to find an offensive groove. He hit at least 4 3s. MV couldn't buy a basket. DLS locked up Fadal & Rust. DLS may get #1 seed in Open but I'd take Moreau if they played. Sac is my pick to win Open.

I think Modesto Christian will get the one seed if they beat Folsom on Saturday. 30 straight wins against a tough schedule and avenged their only loss.

Udenyi also played well tonight for De La Salle

Also, Peters was on the mark early for DLS. Had 11 of their first 15 points. But he ended up with 14, I think.

DLS was a wall on defense.

Certainly not the most fun game to watch, but highly effective for Sparty.

As for the #1 seed , Impressive run by MC if they beat Folsom tonight, but DLS plays in a much better league. MC does go out and play some great teams which is always nice to see. They've never been one to go the easy route. I guess it won't matter all that much because DLS will be no worse than #2 and still get home court.
But if MC loses could it go like this? Or does Sac High get a #2 seed?

#1DLS
#2 Folsom
#3 Sac High
#4 MC

If Folsom wins no way we don't get #1. Comparable league and bigger wins and slightly tougher schedule. I think it gets tough for the selection committee of Folsom ends up losing.

It was floated on twitter by Joe Davidson and Cal Hi Sports that Monte Vista would go to the Open Division. Must not have seen the game last night.

Pre-Season schedules for Modesto Christian and DLS were both tough. As far as the league, the BVAL is not very good outside of DLS & MV and MC's league is flat out terrible. Tough to not give DLS the #1 seed even if MC knocks off Folsom. DLS is currently the #1 ranked team in NorCal

I was at the MC vs Folsom game last night. MC might have just earned that #1 spot. 30 straight wins and a convincing statement in the section finals. Both teams have strong arguments and I'm not sure there is much a difference this year between being a #1 or #2 seed. Arguably all of these teams can beat each other this year.

Streak it shouldn't matter about how a team(Monte Vista) looks in one game. The Resume is exactly what the open was created for. 3 straight NCS finals appearances. 2x champion. 2014 State Champion. Was #2 seed in the open last year.

Also I don't see how Folsom would be a #1 seed over DLS. Joe Davidson is clueless.

Very well said. Seen both teams play or watched them on Hudl. Based on strength of schedule and performance DLS deserves the #1 ranking.

On a different note, your postings most often are biased in support of DLS despite your disclaimer that your have no horse in the race when called out. Try being more balanced in your analysis. This is not a criticism or an attack. Just a noble recommendation from an observer who enjoy reading objective posts.

Monte Vista was very good the past two years, so they must be very good this year? Maybe I'm missing something so that makes no sense. Monte Vista beat SHC and lost to Riordan. Bellarmine is 4-0 against those two schools. Monte Vista lost to Granite Bay, which Sheldon handled in the playoffs. But yeah, lets move them up because they've been good in the past.
