From my understanding each section will submit their top 20-24 qualifiers in order and CIF will place the teams in divisions. Anyone wanna take a stab at ranking the section teams in order?

Some of the teams that lost will still get in as back fills or at large to fill the brackets. I'm assuming the back fill process is the same as last year as the highest team that lost in the quarterfinals, so DLS will get in as the replacement if a D1 team gets put into the Open, even though they are 1-2 in the postseason thus far.

It remains to be seen how they choose the at large teams that aren't being back filled, and if teams like College Park, Monte Vista or Amador Valley will get invites. It may just depend on just how many spots they need to fill.

Man back in the day when I played your ass would be trying to find your glove and bat for some of these teams that have been ousted for awhile. When is the last time DLS played? Sorry even as much as I like them they just aren't that good this year and their season should have ended.

Exactly. It should be interesting who they put in. I'm sure some teams will be completely surprised.

The Norcals is just way too big and almost not interesting. By the time the big games come on it is the third week of league play in baseball. Imagine football going to January 18 th!

Agree with you guys. This is getting to be stupid. I mean narrow it down, send teams home that don't belong, and lets crown real champs.

i can see the emails going out now... " we need to postpone the team end of season party because we got into the norcals. I will be handing your uniforms back at school tomorrow"

I don't know about you all..... but I'm really looking forward to Salesian vs. O'Dowd in the open finals this year. That will be a fun one! Sorry @UncleYacht but no upset city dot com from the ccs or sjs in the open this year. These two freight trains are going to collide head on in the finals!

im not prepared to crown anyone. MC or Sheldon could EASILY get Salesian. It's also not certain the committee won't do something stupid like putting the ncs and SJS teams on the same side for the semis. As previously stated, I see Odowd repping the North this year.

I think O'Dowd has a little more talented and versatile roster than Salesian actually. But I love the way Salesian takes PRIDE IN THEIR DEFENSE, pays attention to the details, and focuses on the little things. I think O'Dowd falls somewhat short in these areas, especially taking pride in their defense. Salesian will prevail in the open final because of their consistent tenacity on the defensive end. Too many lapses from O'Dowd will cost them.

MC was not at full strength when they played Salesian and it was a very close game until the 4th. Sheldon is loaded with talented guards. Winner of the SJS will come out battle tested and ready for the open and will probably face Odowd in the semis for the right to face Salesian. That being said it will take someone's A game to beat Melis and his crew.

How weren’t they at full strength? Thought i saw all rotational players playing. It will come down to coaching. Mellis is hands down a better coach than either team and possibly one of the best in the state

I believe MC had a player or 2 that was not eligible until after Jan1st.
In any event I think you have 4 or 5 teams that can beat each other on any given night.
And one of those teams nobody talks about.... Bellarmine. I've seen all these teams play. Bellarmine is right there. The gap between salesian, odowd, sheldon, MC, and bellarmine is a sliver. Salesian is the team to beat but i wouldn't call it an upset if anybody knocks them off.
