New NCS division 1 predictions

Some big surprises Freedom got screwed big time no way doughtery valley should have gotten a 2 seed.James logan also is not a 11 seed committee made some big time mistakes. If doughtery valley
is a 2 seed how is dublin a 5 seed with a win over doughtery valley.

It is clear that strength of schedule means nothing because doughtery valley's strength of
Schedule was lower then any of the top 6 seeds. That will be a very exciting game between doughtery and freedom should the seeds hold up.

The Freedom/Monte Vista/James Logan bracket is the group of death. Its too bad we won't be seeing all of them later in the tournament. Disappointing committee choices. Strength of schedule should matter.

Here are the first round games by rank. Pretty interesting. I'll post in a few their strength of schedules. Committee must have been in a hurry when they did this.

Team Rank Team Rank

De la salle 13 vs College Park 538
Dougherty 54 vs California 384
Freedom 28 vs Amador 344
Heritage 56 vs Castro Valley 183
Dublin 70 vs Liberty 189
Monte vista 83 vs Logan 171
Berkeley 144 vs San Leandro 254
Foothill 124 vs Pittsburg 142

I hope this comes out in a readable form.

the first number is schedule strength and the second is max prep rank. The teams are organized from top to bottom of seedings. 3 of Monte Vista's losses were to De La and Freedom. Without those games they'd arguably be with 3 losses, on a par with Dublin. Dougherty lost to Dublin and has the weakest schedule in the bracket except for College Prep. All very strange. This will be a very interesting play off

Strength of

De La Salle 14.1 13
Dougherty Val 8.5 54
Freedom 15.6 28
Heritage 12.1 56

I find it hard to believe that there is so much of an out cry on a team that went 24-2. I agree, there strength of schedule isn't the best but they had 2 common opponents, Castro Valley and Pitt. DV beat both teams, Freedom lost to Castro Valley, I think that was the deciding factor in my opinion. I think the bigger issue should have been the 7 & 8 seeds. Foothill get's a tough deal in being slotted at #8 and if they win, having to play De La Salle and if they are the 7th seed, they would be matched up with DV or Cal winner, much more favorable in my opinion.

There is no perfect science to this and sometimes a league champs gets a home game against a higher seeded team which still makes no sense to me. Berkeley is rewarded with a #7 seed but then has to travel to San Leandro. This rule has to change in my opinion but it's been around for years and I don't see Gil changing this anytime soon.

Scout, it isn't an outcry as much as it is interesting how they make these sausages. It looks like the headline of a big won loss is more important than schedule toughness or success against highly regarded teams. If that is the case then coaches will want to soften up their schedules to hedge their bets. That would be too bad for competition. But so be it. It will all come out in the wash in a couple of weeks.
