Newark Memorial faces big test Wednesday

Newark Memorial will face top seed Miramonte on Wednesday in the NCS Division II semi-finals after knocking off Tamalpais (55-42) and Concord (54-51) on the road as a double digit seed.

Junior Haylee Nelson has averaged 15.5 points and 17.5 rebounds in the two playoffs wins. On the year, she is averaging 18 points, 15 rebounds and two blocks per game.

Nelson is a good player, and when Miramonte played them a couple weeks ago, it was at the end of a four-game week for Newark that started with Brookside Christian, then another game, then Logan on Friday and us on Saturday.

Newark is young and well-coached and is playing with house money ... and I'm always nervous at this time of year.

If Miramonte plays hard like usual...it shouldn't be too tough of a game for them.
