Nor Cal Preps top 20

I thought those were possibly the two toughest teams to peg this year. Questions I had were:

Does the experience Folsom's backups got last year in all of those blowouts translate to staying atop the Sacramento region?

Can a talent like Najee Harris with a decent supporting cast allow Antioch to take the big step to 8 or 9 wins?

Streak, does Antioch's passing game have a pulse? I'm not in the know but I was at the Foothill/Antioch playoff game last year and after Foothill took a big early lead, they dumped 9 in the box all night long and stopped Harris. One reason they were able to do this was because they had Isaiah Langley covering Antioch's recievers.

Bubba3000.....I think that one of the problems of Antioch was the line play was not good enough as Harris had to do most of the work....The Panther line has the size but lacks the skill to open big holes for Harris and give the QB enough time to get off a decent pass..Supposely, there have been a few kids that have transferred over to Antioch from Freedom and Deer Valley and if this is the case, then just maybe we may see a stronger Antioch O and D..Foothill's line play was just too much for Antioch.

and to say Foothill's line play was too much for Antioch speaks volumes. Foothill's line play can be scrappy but it generally doesn't measure up in EBAL.

I was a bit surprised to see where SHP [Sacred Heart Prep] and Palma came in at in the current rankings with Palma ranked slightly above SHP. I'm now wondering where both Bellarmine & Serra will come in at in NCP's rankings & if St. Francis slips in somewhere in the top 10.

I can understand your angst.

I put much of a football programs success on coaching. I believe the Folsom staff has earned the benefit of the doubt, even with the big graduation and should be in the top 5. They do a damn good job.

Wish Folsom would schedule like Del Oro until they do.....
Look for Del Oro to take some lumps in preseason but will over take Folsom and win league.

OK see NCP's latest rankings update and not surprised by Serra, but am with Valley Christian's ranking & realize St. Francis will be left out of the top 5 while Bellarmine will almost certainly be in.

Great point on Folsom's coaching. After they won their first state title and graduated a very good senior class (not quite as good as this past year's), we ranked them in the teens to start the year and they won 10 games before losing to Vacaville in the section finals.

St. Francis was on the bubble for the Top 20.

Rmbr26,

Definitely value your WCAL rankings (think they are the best available rankings of the league) and have been reading up on the league through the thread :)
