Spring season is over. How would you rank our NorCal teams? Let's use local programs even if they have players from other areas . #1 LA, I mean Oakland Soldiers who's best of the rest?

Is that really even a question dude? Soldiers ahead of the pack by a mile. Then maybe Arsenal, Lakeshow, Team Lillard. NorCal talent is so down right now. It’s so watered down. I don’t think the Soldiers would compete in the EYBL with Norcal players only. I would go down south also with today’s talent up here.

Does EBO qualify as Norcal?

Also, saw that a bunch of EBO's guys jumped ship to The Truth in the EYBL (including Keshad Johnson, Earvin Knox, Prince Gilliam)...

When it comes to nor cal/ bay area talent, is it really waterd down or do we have toooooo many high schools and aau programs?

Too many AAU programs. Some of the blow outs at Jamtown this past weekend were ridiculous...I mean losing by 30-40 points at the 17U level??

What's even crazier or sad is the amount of teams willing to pay $595 to hoop review or
Whoever is putting on the tournament to be blown out by 30-40 pts but it's okay
just gather the team around after that beat down and tell them they are getting better.

Issue revolves around too many teams, players heading to out of the area programs and a down incoming senior class.

Also, the "talent collecting" mean the individual talent surpasses the actual team output and leads to bad basketball.

17s teams I have liked are:

Oakland Soldiers
EBO
The Truth
EBA Pharaohs
Team Lillard
Arsenal
Splash City

I seen this coming a couple of years ago. Last summer I spent the spring and summer evaluation periods at AAU tournaments and was very concerned about how the Norcal teams (outside of soldiers) were doing. Not many had quality wins. Some will dispute me but I know what I watched. Some even losing by 25pts or more. The Sacramento area since the 2016 class has been in a nosedive, but 2020 and beyond is really loaded. No power 5 signee in Sacramento this year. (Just using this as a gage). I see guys playing in the EYBL and Gauntlet that 2 years ago wouldn't have gotten a tryout. And this spring hasn' been any better.

It has become a money grab for the teams and the tournament organizers. We have too many teams because daddy or the uncle wants to start a team to showcase their kids, the teams do not practice enough to get better and all the too teams avoid each other so they record looks good instead of playing each other to get better.

I was watching some old games from when my son played and you could count at least 8 kids that were playing that went to college, now you will be lucky to find 2 players that could play college ball on the court and im talking bout every level of college. The best ream i have seen so far this spring has been Team Lilliard 15u team, Leon has done a great job putting together his team, he actually practices and he plays all of the top competition. The Soildiers get state wide talent because they are big business Aau basketball and they have to put a great product out there, cant be mad at them because they have won 2 peach jams.

Overall talent is down but we do have some good young talent, we just need ensure they are being challenged through practicing and playing the best competition.

Another example is the amount of unsigned Sr's on the circuit this year from our region. And many of them will not sign late.

The expansion of unsigned seniors playing on non senior specific teams hurts too. In theory it helps teams win games, but takes away exposure for players still in high school and leads to less cohesiveness

Sac area is a nosedive? Are you talking about sac aau teams or talent? Sac talent has been very good especially this 2018 class a damn sight better than the bay. Sac has always lost their best players just how it is. PHPS had the unusual sheldon group that stayed local and they did great. Way to many teams with ever changing rosters every week. The whole thing is pretty comical actually.
