Wow, I was wrong. 8 team open bracket, including 4 from NCS.

Open:

(8) St. Francis at (1)Bishop O'Dowd
(5) El Cerrito at (4) Folsom
(6) Serra at (3) Moreau
(7) Modesto Christian at (2) Monte Vista

De La Salle #1 seed in D-I, Drake #1 seed in D-III (Campo #2 seed), Marin Catholic #1 seed in D-IV (Cardinal Newman #2 seed)

Wow I love these games....the only problem is it waters down the lower divisions. But all these games are pick'ems except for Odowd.I like Odowd and Moreau to meet again in championship.

It's awful for NorCal to have an 8 team open. I would prefer a 4 team. What's the point of having state championship games when most of the best teams are eliminated in open play.

The Open is the true state championship, with the top 8 teams from NorCal battling it out to face SoCal's best. The other divisions can still be competitive, and any state championship is nice, but the Open is where it's at. BOD is the heavy favorite, but with those 7 other teams they've got to bring their A game or risk getting knocked off.

Meh. They clearly seeded to avoid having two NCS teams meet in the first round. You could argue that they could have made Folsom a 3, Moreau a 4, Serra a 5 and El Cerrito a 6 and done the same thing, but if the seedings hold that sets up two rematches (BOD/Moreau and Folsom/Monte Vista) in the semis. These seedings allow for a potential all-SJS, all-NCS or even all-CCS Norcal final. I really don't think Moreau or SF belong in the open, but if they're going to be in there, I think these seedings are pretty close to ideal.
