Prestonwood had a kid that was 6'11 and easily passed the "eyeball test". Kid had maybe 10-12 pts, 4 of them on free throws, the rest of his points came from easy dunks with no one contesting. The other 90% of his "shot attempts" we're defended superbly and needless to say, he was a non factor in a 17pt loss. Looked to be a good game early with both teams hitting 3 pointers but DLS stormed out to a double digit lead about midway through the 1st qtr and never looked back. DLS vs Gorman should be a great game.

DLS will open up some eyes if they already haven't. The prestonwood kid is going to miss state and had offers from about everywhere.

I wouldn't be surprised if DLS beats Gorman by double digits.

DLS did a great job of bringing over help every time the ball went into Herrard. Numerous strips when he would bring the ball down. Spartans also crashed the offensive boards getting quite a few second and third looks. Prestonwood looked like a team very reliant on one player to make things happen. He was gassed midway through the third quarter.

Renegades- How does the "new" look DLS team play? I'm hearing a lot more offensive freedom by those players who earn the right to shoot it. DLS is long and they have a lot of kids in that 6"4-6"6 mold. Perfect in HS because you get a lot of matchup problems and they contest most shots. I caught some of the Gorman and CC game on the cube and I wasn't that much in awe of Gorman. CC hung tough.

The "new look" won't be known for a few years. DLS is still heavily influenced by the toughness and discipline instilled by Frank. Definitely not saying it won't continue; just saying hurt should remain out for a year or two.

All of that said, they look VERY impressive this year. I predicted them to win open before the season

De la sale looks very similar to how they did under alloco but the players have the freedom to take shots much earlier in the possession. I was very impressed with what I saw I would be shocked if they didn't beat Gorman fairly easily. Watching the Gorman - Capital game was like spectating a bad pickup game at 24 hour fitness with really talented players. Honestly first time I recall a Gorman team looking better coached then their opponent. I was very impressed with redondo Union they have athletes, play hard and are well coached.

I'm very high on DLS as well. If they continue to get buy in and play D like Frank taught they will continue to be successful at a very high level. They have really advanced offensively and can put up 70+ while still holding opponents in the 40's. I was curious to see how they would do because there preseason up until now has been very weak. With exception of Serra the teams they have played are average HS teams. I guess that explains the 40-50 pt blow outs.

Amazing how some of these teams have so much individual talent but doesn't mean much in HS hoops if you don't get chemistry and coaching.

Open division of this tournament is REALLY LOADED... I watched most of the CC-Gorman game online and it wasn't good basketball at all... Mekhi had a really rough game (turnovers, wild bad shots). He has a ton of talent, hope he can harness it (this may have just been an off game). Wasn't impressed at all with the big from Gorman, Zach Collins.. he looked downright bad on the offensive end. He was a force on defense blocking and changing shots but that may have been at least in part because he was at least 6" taller than everyone else and they weren't exactly taking great shots inside to begin with...

Chino Hills seems to really be on a roll. The "ball" brothers are something else. Lonzo is going to be a 1 and done guy at UCLA even with that broken "J". Great Tourney. I wish I could attend because watching a game live vs the cube is night and day.

From what little I've seen on the iffy, balky, fuzzy Cube feed, the biggest difference between this year's Chino Hills and last year's edition is that they have more offensive threats on the court and will (at least on occasion) actually look for an open teammate and make a good pass. Sometimes, they even make two or three passes before a shot!

From what little bit of stats been able to find, the Ball brothers-and-cousin still take a huge percentage of the shots the team gets, but it's not the totally crazy "If your last name is Ball, SHOOT THE BALL, otherwise don't!" look they had last year.

The ball freshman gets a lot of shots. They also have a 6-9 frosh who is a good compliment to the team. The cousin doesn't get that many looks

Good bounce back day for norcal as we go 4-0. Great Match ups today including Folsom vs Capital.
