Congrats to both Bishop O'Dowd & San Ramon for winning the state, both having great seasons. O'Dowd was on a mission and completed and great season with a huge victory against an opponent that has had their number over the years. San Ramon, overcame some a great deal early on and even before the season started and with a brand new varsity coach. Let's give credit to the coach staffs and players for all that they accomplished. Coaches put there programs first while these young student athletes had to juggle school, athletics, family, relationships, friendships and faith while accomplishing their main goal.

Actually (and all the papers in SoCal are reporting it) an O'Dowd player called for a time out when O'Dowd had none.
...and, per game tape review, the referee was looking right at the O'Dowd player who was calling for it. It would have
been a technical foul with free throws and ball possession to MD in the closing seconds and most likely an MD
win.

Plus, in a hi tier game as this was, almost all refs would not call a normal type foul in the closing seconds of a tied game
and let the full teams decide it on the full court in a second OT.

The O'Dowd HC knew he got away with probably the most lucky break in his HS coaching career. When interviewed
he stated, "We were very fortunate"

I was thinking the same thing about the time out - I thought I saw the O'Dowd bench calling for the timeout, but I was pretty high up in the stands. Not a fan of either team, and no allegiance to NorCal just because I'm from here.

And I didn't want to see the game end on that foul call, i wanted a 2nd OT.

O'Dowd was also very lucky it didn't end with the tip-in at regulation
