O.T. Houston, Houston, Houston (Astros)

Yankees fans are fuming. Stealing signs has always been illegal and controversial, and now they’re using high tech devices. No titles will be vacated.

Teams need to adapt and get more creative with their signs. Binoculars and the like aren’t going away.

Should there be more officials in the club houses and the center field fan section of the stadium? I mean this is down right dirty and tarnishes the game in a big way. Imagine being a batter and you know when a fast ball is coming. No wonder they were knocking the leather off the ball when they beat the Dodgers in the WS. Also, this is making a group of players look like clutch hitters when they're not. This is a serious problem and the NBL has their work cut out for them to stop it.

As far as I know, the allegations were just for home games. Those hitters were still clutch on the road. It does tarnish their legacy though, just like the Pats.

Was this the same technology that SLV was using for the last decade in addition to the helmet cams?

On a serious note every MLB team cheats in one way, shape or form. Steroids, PED’s, and various other ways.

Doing this at all changes the whole approach on how a pitcher/catcher battery work together. Does not matter if it happend only at home, did the Dodgers know this? The answer is no they did not. This cheating affects the game plan and all in-game adjustments for every AB during every game.

Bottom line is that the practice is bush league. But so is taking video of other teams walk through or practices. Until the penalty is severe enough teams will push the envelope. Kind of like illegal recruiting practices.

What would be to proper punishment for such actions? I hate when they dish out fines because that money goes to MLB.

And just like certain recruiters, until they get caught- and it has to be red handed, see quid pro quo- they’ll fein innocence.
And when Busted, you can bet your last lira an “associate” will take the fall.
Q- “Hey AJ, what did you gather when the clubhouse attendant was having “trouble” with the garbage can ONLY when you guys batted?”
A- “Yeah, kinda weird right? See, at Stanford, we always made sure the can was, like, fully emptied. You know in baseball we really keep energized with lots of bananas. And Marquess slipped on a peel one day. Got really pissed. So there were those metal cans everywhere. Now, at Minute Maid, the clubhouse guy has to clean the bathrooms when we’re on D, especially after the eighth when the Yankees are here. The chunks and stuff there knowing Chapman’s coming in; guys get pretty queasy. But, you know, before that, he’s got the banana can tasks.”

Hinch will have a rough time wiggling out of this one....

Dodger fans, like myself, are fuming. To know that they won their championship at our expense, and that the performances by Yu Darvish in game 3 and Kershaw in game 5 that were seen as them “choking” may very well have just been the result of cheating just infuriates me. Kershaw had a solid postseason outside of that. Darvish had a great postseason before the World Series. Yes, Darvish’s game 7 performance was in LA; but it could have been a direct result of him losing confidence from game 3. Plus if we had won game 3 or 5, game 7 wouldn’t have happened anyway.

I'm not a big fan of Roberts but had the Dodgers won the 2017 WS I would give him a pass on some of the things I don't agree with him on. Also agree that this may have affected the Dodgers pitchers psychologically in the latter games of the WS.

The thing that blows me away is that they lost every home game in the WS. Cheating or not that’s crazy.

I don't believe the report was for the 2019 season. There are previous reports prior to this one that suggest they were cheating a few years back as well. Analytics and cheating. I don't know which one I dislike the most.

Yeah, they only cheated vs my Dodgers. All the other teams just stunk. Jk lol
All jokes aside, the Dodgers played good enough to win the WS that year. Had the Astros not cheated I'm sure the Dodgers would have won another pennant. Last year was a different story altogether. The Red Sox was a machine. Surprised they didn't get back to the WS this year with the talent on that team. That was a very confident group of players. As a die-hard Dodger fan I could sense a come back wasn't in the cards after game one. It was obvious to me that the Red Sox was on another level.

Some teams cheat, others don't. At the end of they day, the Dodgers lost and that is what history will write. Oh well, back to HS football

While the Dodgers still could have won at home in GM7, it could be argued that it shouldn’t have ever got to that point.

Does anyone recall the pivotal game 5 that was played at that ridiculous band box stadium in Houston? 13-12 slugfest. It seems the Stros had a lot of help knowing what pitches were coming to score all those runs.

Then there’s question whether the Stros should have even been in that series, as they were clearly aided in their close games against the Yankees in the NLCS.

The eventual WS ‘MVP’ was clearly glancing continually to the right field bullpen for help. As was the juicer Altuve and other notable players. It wasn’t just on the road either.

I knew there was something off with that team in 2017 and told my wife so. She laughed when this news dropped because she remembered all my bitching back then. I still contend Altuve is using some sort of PED’s on top of this stealing signs crap. Now that this level of cheating has come out, along with what happened before with the Stros hacking the Cardinals computers, I’m even more convinced some of these guys are using PED’s, specifically Altuve. Dude is 5-6 160 pounds and went from hitting 2, 7, 5, and 7 HR’s his first 4 seasons to 15, 24, 24, 13, and 31 since. And hitting 420 foot blasts to center field.

Ozzie Smith was one of the best shortstop of all time. He was of similar size and wasn’t ever hitting 420 foot blasts to center. Altuve, Springer and the Stros are a complete fraud.

Maybe, maybe not. Don’t forget that Alex Cora was part of that 2017 Stros team and is one of the key figures in the investigation. Who knows that he didn’t take and implement something similar while in Boston?

I mean, weren’t the Red Sox caught using Apple watches recently? I’m not convinced their 2018 postseason was legit either. Their WS MVP Steven Pearce was a career scrub that seemed to know what pitches were coming all series too.
