Eastern Washington FCS All American Vernon Adams will transfer to Oregon and be eligible immediately.
Guy put up crazy #'s last 3 years for one of the best D1AA programs in country. My guess is he will be your stater.

Welcome to the world of big time football. Jeff Lockie (Monte Vista) has waited for his turn and now will wait some more.

Now, you take Vernon Adams if you get the chance. He was outstanding against Pac-12 teams last year.

That's the reality of college football. Go to a big time program like Oregon and play time does not come easy.

Streak, what source has named the transfer the starter?

How many more years of eligibility does Lockie have? Can't imagine Adams would leave Eastern Washington unless he's pretty sure he will be Oregon's starter.

Lockie will be a RSJr this fall. I was just lobbing that back at Streak. Any D1 player on roster for RS, Fr and So years is not going to lay down and ask for a release. That said, the competition is on. As far as coaches "giving" the starting job to a recruit (whether Juco, HS or transfer) promises or guaranteed PT is speculative. You compete for the position and go from there. But if you have a chance to play at last years runner-up, that's hard to pass up.
I was just thinking about not only that years' QBs, but some other very good products from NorCal-
Kline, Lockie, Houston, Lloyd, Graves, Trosin either have transferred or have few stats, although Lloyd put up some numbers at a D2 this season.
We'll see how Goff and Browning pan out.
No doubt it's a rough road, with plenty of potholes, especially for signal callers.

Lockie had an offer form SDSU and would have fit better in their offense. Plus SDSU is stronger academic school than Oregon.
Pick your schools wisely kids.

USNWR rankings SDSU-149, UO- 106. Kaehler would've beat him out, but then he'd get the job for two years.

Pulled this from an article up North. Adams torched OSU and Washington with some insane number. Oregon is hoping this small stature guy will be like Russell Wilson at Wisconsin a few years back. No doubt he's starting.

"Both Adams and Miller would be an upgrade over Oregon's current quarterbacks. No offense to Jeff Lockie, Morgan Mahalak, Travis Waller, Ty Griffin and Taylor Alie, but Adams and Miller have proved themselves to be dynamic quarterbacks over the past couple of seasons"

Isnt Nsimba Webster, the former Deer Valley High lightening quick qb also at Eastern Washington? Would love to see him breaking down defenses with his broken play capability.

Adams was an absolute stud in HS who alot of people missed on (mostly due to height/size concerns). I see him starting as the starting QB for the Ducks next year.

Bella-

Totally agree. Adams is an absolute stud. You should watch video on him. (BTW the article was in SF Chronicle the other day which is where I read it). Played at a great HS (Alemany) and just slipped through the cracks. He's got a big middle finger up to the ELITE 11 guys or the overhyped 11 whatever you want to call it.

Lockie is a solid D1 QB but the drop off with him would be so big. Does he really fit into that system? The kid from MC (Morgan) will be fine. He's still very young and I believe will play there.

Jake Rodrigues is at SDSU now. I still liked hime over Lockie. Bigger arm and more athletic kid.

Good times.

Vernon Adams is the real deal. I would be shocked if he isnt the starter. Lockie has failed to impress. He was basically given the backup job when Rodrigues transfered to SDSU. I remember reading reports that they both were struggling but Rodrigues had the upper hand but they wouldnt decide on the backup going into summer. Rodrigues had a much high ceiling then Lockie. Like Larry said solid arm and athletic. Injuries hurt him big time. Im looking forward to seeing what he can do at SDSU...

Seems like this move favors the younger QBs at Oregon. I heard Mahalak was impressing the coaches with his ability but was struggling a little with the playbook. This gives him another year to learn and develop. Waller is a crazy good athlete. I think these two will duke it out next year for the starting job. If Lockie cant win the job this year the writing is pretty much on the wall. You dont go out an recruit a transfer if you have a rs Jr on roster that you think is capable of leading your team.

Adams is legit. EWU runs a similar offense to oregon so it should be pretty easy for him to pick up the playbook. He is similar to Johnny Manziel. I think he has a stronger arm though. He played against some Pac 12 teams and was very impressive in those games. I think he is the real deal for a college QB. I dont think his game really translates to the NFL but he should be successful at Oregon.

Russell Wilson is a small guy at 5'10 or so. There's not one team in the NFL that wouldn't want him now.
If Adams can put up big numbers and lead his team to the playoffs someone is going to take a chance on him at the next level.
Excellent move on Adams part to transfer to the big stage. Not sure what's going on with the Oregon QB development program however.
