Paly HC Diepenbrock steps down to coach his son

Any qualified PAUSD employee who wants the job will get first crack at it. The union contract rules.

It's ed code and in some circles known as the "Rialto Rule" -- so-called because of a basketball situation at Rialto High in 1992.

I think Rich would be a wonderful choice, but the daily schlep to Palo Alto both directions is really time consuming.

You can pull Forslund’s name out of the hat as he’s joining Joey Curtin’s Archbishop Riordan coaching staff.

Rich Forslund is now an assistant at Riordan. He took his name out weeks ago.

Interesting, I heard a Palo Alto teacher applied, I guess they bypassed the Rialto Rule for the college experience

Incorrect, he interviewed middle of the week 1-3rd sometime and did not get the job. From what I heard several times it was going to be tough for him to get the job regardless over a teacher, possibly the girls coach wanting to switch over or Tention since he comes with college experience.

I hope he goes back to Riordan and helps them and gets a job in that league in the near future.
