After 23 years Rick Prinz is stepping down as head football Coach at Paradise H.S. He was owner of several Section Championships.
Paradise is tucked up on a ridge in the hills of Butte County, hiding the fact, the population was close to 29,000 people. That was before the devastating fire. That there is one High School up there, lent a cohesiveness to their program. Kids playing together since Pee Wee. Players would march down long steps right thru the stands to cheering fans. The field is surrounded by tall pines, beautiful surroundings. Grass sod to play on.
He will be missed by many many kids and adults

Here's wishing you great football

Hall of Fame worthy career prior to 2018.
The fire leveled the town (coaching staff's homes included) and they had to handoff a playoff birth.
2019 they make a championship run with kids/coaches not living in town.
Covid-19 less than 2 years after and he still holds the team together.
That's INSANE coaching. This is a huge loss for HS football.
Tip of the cap to that guy!

The year of the fire was supposed to be his last season, but he returned because he couldnt leave the program in ashes. They are moving up to division 3 next year, and with Sutter leaving for the SJS they have a shot to contend.

Gross.......good thing he's gone then. It's time we modernized the football we play here in Northern California so we can finally be credible on the state level. Hopefully the new coach runs schemes from this century.
You are ignorant for sure. Cathedral Catholic, Valley Christian, Oakdale, Aptos, Sutter all seem to do fine.

When you don't have athletes good coaches develop a system that works. Having watched Aptos v Oakdale a couple of times. Classic small town football! Oakdale v Sutter one of the best coached best played game I have seen. I get it wing-t not showy. But Oakdale gets to the playoffs every year with 5' 6 165 pound pulling guards. 2 and one time 3 thousand yard rushers in one season. You talk to any kid that has played for Trent Merzon and they talk about their system. It's boring but when kids start to learn the " system " at 8 or 9. By high school they got the system locked in.

Who cares what offense anybody runs. Scheme is overrated at the hs level. Great coaches and great programs build great players. Congratulations to Coach Prinz for being a great man, building a great program and young men all while supporting the community with years of service. Hats off to a great man.
