Paris Austin to CAL!

This seemed too perfect of a fit to not happen once Paris left Boise

Boom... I saw that coming with departure of moore. Just curious does your diploma (or will it) read CAL or Boise ST? Not trying to be a wise guy but i guess the only way you pull this off is being an athlete right? You can't just transfer to CAL your senior year. Great move if you can do it.

It's not his senior year. He's only played 2 years at Boise. He should have 2 years of eligibility left at Cal.

Thanks for clarifying. For some reason I thought it was his last year. I always thought he was under recruited coming out of BOD. CAL will have to try and fill there roster with some talent like this.

It just seems like it most likely because Rabb has already left for the NBA and they were the same year at BOD.

Feel bad for Rabb. His stock has fallen fast. I hope some of these mock drafts are wrong. It just goes to show you that that you really do have to capitalize on the timing. Last year he was a top 13 pick. Look at Collins from Gonzaga. Can't believe how much he shot up.

This board is comical...everyone on here last year saying how awful it was for Rabb to leave after his frosh year and he was no where near ready blah blah blah. Same exact thing everyone said about AG leaving early...he can't shoot, he doesn't have a posititon blah blah blah. Rabb cost himself millions. If you are a top 20 pick you go to the league asap.

This is the best situation for rabb. He will most likely be drafted by a playoff team who wont throw the pressure on him to be an immediate impact player. He can spend a year or two getting his body right. He will be fine and have a solid nba career. Vukovich is right, this board is comcial. Most were drooling over this kid his senior year, and he's only improved since then.

He did improve in his second year but as a business decision he absolutely should of gone.

Best way to put it... His weaknesses got exposed to a greater extent after staying and giving scouts more visibility into his game. More opportunities to see his weaknesses and break down it on film. Nothing comical about leaving millions on the table. Time will tell.

Bottom line...... A good HS player does not mean you will be a good college player. A good college player does not mean you will be a NBA pro. Contrasting styles completely different game at the NBA level. NBA guys are long, fast and super athletic. I will even go as far to say the skill level has dipped, but the athleticism is at a all-time high! Look at the Big Euro kid from Gonzaga, he will never play in the NBA

I think most people thought Stanley Johnson was going to translate into a very very good NBA player. His situation now probably has him evaluating what he needs to do to have staying power in the NBA. He probably needs to get traded to another team to really scratch that talent everyone gushed over. I believe alot of people felt Rabb was going to be like a Chris Bosh. Its not a bad comparison but lets not jump ahead of ourselves. Most NBA guys arent who they really are until they hit that 25-29 age range.

Yup, I was one of those. Thought he might have Hall-Of-Fame potential, even. Only the 2nd HS player I ever saw play and put in that category, with the other being Jason Kidd, whom I called a stone-cold LOCK to get to the Hall the moment he became eligible, and did so right after his senior year at St. Joe's.

Well, Johnson is still only 20 and still has a chance become a strong NBA player eventually, but HOF? I guess I missed that one by just a little bit... :)

So, I'm 1-for-2 on HOF predictions, or will be after the first Saturday in April 2018 when Kidd gets voted in by a landslide. :)

So far as Rabb goes, my thoughts when he was at O'Dowd were that he *could* be a solid player at the next level, which he has been. I did think that Rabb would need to either develop more outside skills and become a true 3 or a "stretch 4" or get thicker and stronger to be able to really bang with the big guys in order to really become a superstar, whether college or pro.

At least the discussion of Rabb's game didn't get nasty on this forum like the ridiculous Kevin Love bashing on the (fortunately) now-extinct HS forums at the Oregonian's website...

In todays NBA game you have to be long and athletic or a great 3pt shooter! It may change but, thats the state of the game today! Brown from Cal seems to be doing fine with the Celtics using those attributes I mentioned above. On the flip side, if 1 & Done guys go to Arizona, Washington, Kansas or Kentucky they seem more prepared and ready for that jump.

Kidd is still the best HS player I've seen and played against. He was good enough to play in the NBA his soph year at St. Joes. He was taking Gary Patyon and Brian Shaw in the summer like it was no biggie.

The NBA is tough. Its brutal. You better be highly skilled. People forget Ryan Anderson had better numbers at Cal than Rabb. But he's a 6"10 white guy without any flash so nobody really talks about him. Boy did they miss on him....

Ivan Rabb has to continue to develop ways to stretch floor where he can take open look J's.. He started to take 3's this past season at Cal for 1st time in his career. His frame will add some muscle lbs with time, but never will be a load like Zach Randolph in the low block. His off hand skills is unique and will have to continue to work on in the paint moves to keep D off balance in the league. Reference player I would use is Kevin McHale who as a somewhat slender big used various up and under moves to get his shot off. Ivan has good feet balance as a big and his ability to finish with his left hand again is a real strong suit of Ivan.

As far as returning for 2nd year vs 1NDone, that was his personal choice, so, I have no problem that he returned... He may not be a lotto pick as was projected last year if he entered, but irrespective where he ends up..(high teen's or 20's).. get to work and keep improving his game.. How many players would take being a high teen/20's in a heartbeat?? When the dust settles, it is how much one can improve yearly... just ask Draymond Green or this year's ROY candidate, Malcolm Brogdon. good luck to Ivan at next level.
