After working virtually non-stop for weeks to find a way to bring back prep sports (especially football) in California, Serra HC Patrick Walsh appeared to have succeeded by getting the state to alter its covid safety guidelines last week. There was praise all around for his work. Now, Walsh's pandemic Serra football schedule could be in jeopardy. That's because his league, the WCAL, has produced a mini-schedule that includes three games with San Francisco schools. That city's health officials are waffling on signing off on the Walsh-induced state sports guidelines. Time is of the essence. Walsh needs to know if the SF trio will be allowed to play ASAP. If they can't, he needs to find other opponents. And that's the irony: The same guy who has done so much to free up coaches and players might wind up being hamstrung. We should know some answers very soon.

Great points. The race has started to get on the field and the clock is ticking. At some point, I wonder if the Non-SF schools in the WCAL could create a round robin schedule

Would not be a surprise to see Serra try to re-schedule all four WCAL schools in Santa Clara County and dump the three SF units.
