Harbor 7:00PM -Harbor ihas been outscored its last 6 games 191-12. That is not good. CSFD wins easily 35-0

Friday, October 26, 2018
Everett Alvarez at
Christopher 7:30PM -Christopher needs a win to have chance at playoffs. CAL14 this time they will keep it close. Chirstopher wins 24-14

Hollister at
Salinas 7:30PM- Finally good Gabilan Games! Hollister has beaten the teasm they were supposed to and lost to the teams they were supposed to. They are supposed to lose. Salinas 28-20

Watsonville at
Soledad 7:30PM -Soledad had a very nice win last week. Not sure what happend to Watsonville. Their roster seems to have shrunk. Grades? Taking Soledad in a mild upset. 24-20

Gilroy at
Seaside 7:30PM- When 2 bad teams play each other is it a good game? Seaside 24-7

North Salinas at
Monte Vista Christian 7:30PM- Both these teams were able to slow down Carmel. MVC did it better. MVC wins 24-17.

St. Francis S.C.P. at
Monterey 7:30PM- I think the whole 15 man team thing is starting to catch up with SF SCP. I give them credit for being competitive. But to sustain that though a whole season is too much. Monterey 24-10

Pacific Grove at
Santa Cruz 7:30PM - Can PG play a whole 4 quarters on both offense and defense? Not sure how you hold Monterey to 14 but give up 56 to SFSCP and 42 to King City. Santa Cruz wins 35-20

North Monterey County at
King City 7:30PM - This is a very good match up. I believe KC is a bit more banged up than NMC. Taking the Condors 21-19

Palma at
Aptos 7:30PM- PCAL game of the night. probably one of the better CCS games of the week, and will have huge impact on the Gabilan title and seeding in DIII. I am going with the home team Aptos 28-24.

Soquel at
Greenfield 7:30PM- Nice to see Greenfield get some wins, but Soquel is just a little bit better. Soquel 35-24

Saturday, October 27, 2018
Alisal at
Carmel 2:00PM -Will this be the test for Carmel? When the QB plays well Carmel is close to unstoppable. When he struggles (MVC & NS) they are a little easier to stop. Difference is this defense is really good. the Defense will get Alisal off the field and the offense will get is groove. Carmel 45-12

Gonzales at
Stevenson 2:00PM- I so badly want to pick the upset here. But Gonzales has proven to be way better than everyone else in the Santa Lucia. Ahh screw it RLS pulls it off 20-19!! Pirateball baby!!!!!

Marina at
Pajaro Valley 7:30PM- Marina has 3 victories, all shut outs. I think Pajaro will score at least once, therefore Marina will lose. PV 27-7

Christopher 7:30PM -Christopher needs a win to have chance at playoffs. CAL14 this time they will keep it close. Chirstopher wins 24-14

At the beginning of the year, I would have taken Christopher. But, without their QB, it's the Eagles 28-17.

Hollister at
Salinas 7:30PM- Finally good Gabilan Games! Hollister has beaten the teasm they were supposed to and lost to the teams they were supposed to. They are supposed to lose. Salinas 28-20

Let's not forget who Hollister really is...
Terra Nova 49 - Hollister 14
Wilcox 37 - Hollister 6
Aptos 42 - Hollister 20
Hollister 34 - Christopher 28

Salinas wins 42-10.

Gilroy at
Seaside 7:30PM- When 2 bad teams play each other is it a good game? Seaside 24-7

These are the types of games that fans watch and say "See, my team is playing much better now!"

Seaside 20-14

Palma at
Aptos 7:30PM- PCAL game of the night. probably one of the better CCS games of the week, and will have huge impact on the Gabilan title and seeding in DIII. I am going with the home team Aptos 28-24.

Palma reportedly made adjustments after their loss to Salinas. However, comparative results still suggest they're about 10 points behind the Cowboys... therefore, they're about 10 points behind the Mariners, too.

Aptos 24-13

This is a game that the Padres should win going away if the peninsula fans are right about how good this team really is. Alisal, Hollister, Christopher (when healthy), and MVC are all about at the same level.

However, Carmel conveniently "plays their worst game" when their opponent actually has a pulse.

Carmel 27-14

Gonzales at
Stevenson 2:00PM- I so badly want to pick the upset here. But Gonzales has proven to be way better than everyone else in the Santa Lucia. Ahh screw it RLS pulls it off 20-19!! Pirateball baby!!!!!

It's bad karma to predict your team will lose.

And you conveniently left out that Carmel played its best game against its best opponent when they slapped Salinas up and down the field so bad that months later their fans are still crying about it.

I am sure this was done to accommodate for the larger east cost viewing audience, they do it in the NFL and NCAA all the time for big time games. ;)
I’m sure moving it 30 min had something to do with being a prime time game! However, it was to allow Gonzales players time to make the commute due to SAT testing in Soledad. A class act move by the AD and coach of RLS. So kudos to your team!

Feel free to ignore what I write. No one’s forcing you to read it.

Unless Carmel is playing Salinas, apparently. Still bitter.

Crazy night last night. Palma winning was not a huge surprise, but Hollister beating Salinas? I did not see that happening at all. I wonder if Aptos and Salinas were looking ahead to their match up next week.

Also props to King City for pulling out the win and keeping their playoff chances alive. It won't be easy, but if they can knock off SLV next week I think they can make it in. (PAL booster will have his IV/V playoff projection out today)

Last night was another reminder of how matchups and rivalries can impact HS football. In addition, it’s hard to maintain focus and intensity over the course of a season, and sometimes it’s the other guy’s night.

Makes things that much more interesting from here on out!

If you saw last nights Palma- Aptos game- I think you would agree it was an " instant classic". Intense drama and big plays were the order of the night. It was a game that could have just as easily gone the other way. Both offenses displayed their strengths with neither team really able to stop the other until it mattered the most when Palma kept Aptos from scoring as time ran out. Palma QB is easily the best QB in the southern portion of the CCS. Quick release and very accurate. Slot reciever #10 for Palma was electric last night. The Aptos running game was as advertised. It truly was one of those games where it was to bad someone was going to absorb the loss. On another note- I have to pound my chest and point out the fact that I was one of the very few at the beginning of the season to not sleep on Hollister-and lo and behold they're in the mix!

No matter what, Hollister always matches up well with Salinas, and this year was no exception. And they may see each other again in D1 Open!

Sorry I couldn’t get out to Palma-Aptos. I knew it would be close and even picked Palma to win 34-30 on another thread. What an ending that must have been! And great to see two good teams rise to the occasion and leave it all on tbe field.

I was busy watching 10 hours of MLB...lol.

Why would I ignore your posts? I enjoy reading posts from bitter fans that can’t get over losses.

My comments on Carmel have nothing to do with Salinas. Only with the fact that everything thinks they're awesome because of how they beat teams like Watsonville or Scotts Valley. The games against MVC, North High, and Alisal should really concern Padre fans who are hoping they opt up to D-III. You can no longer say that the only reason the MVC game was close was because of an "off-game" or that it was just "unusual". The score against Alisal suggests they're exactly where I've been saying they were (I predicted a 13-point game and the actual margin was 14)... and I thought I was being a little generous with predicting the Trojans would score 14. The North High game should have been a "pick your number".

If Carmel does opt up, here's how I'd rank the teams:

1A: Palma
1B: Aptos
3: Sacred Heart Prep
4A: Terra Nova
4B: Carmel

That said, I still think they should opt up. Frankly, they might as well get used to the better competition with the impending move to the Gabilan next year. I would understand if they want one last "harrah" in D-V, but they'd have at least a puncher's chance in D-III. Also, if PALBooster's projections come to fruition, Aptos and Palma would be on the same side of the bracket, so the Padres would "only" have to get past Terra Nova and Sacred Heart Prep to reach the finals. That's about as good as a scenario as they could hope to get, if they want to go with that path.

Also, at 27.5 playoff points, all they'd have to do is reach the finals to qualify for a NorCal regional, which would be a big boost for Monterey Bay area football. It would be pretty funny seeing Mark Tennis at Cal-Hi go nuts over the Padres advancing over Valley Christian. The game that may strangely impact this is Serra vs. St. Francis. If the "other" Padres beat the Lancers, it would throw VC some extra points with a tri-championship.

Hollister has a long history of beating Salinas late in the year, particularly in the playoffs. PALBooster's current projection of them having a rematch in the first round of the playoffs would be interesting, but this last week's game makes me very pessimistic about the Cowboy's chances against the top teams, Wilcox, Palo Alto, and Menlo-Atherton.

I think your point on the projection that they wouldn’t have to face Palma or Aptos till the finals is a strong argument
