How does a team with the best player in the country, best trainers, best up & coming coach get blasted by 30?

Find API's roster on MaxPreps, then research the players on it. The team is LOADED. It's not like PP lost to the Berean Christian girls or anything... :)

Doesn't explain why PP lost by 30 tonight when they beat them 70-54 earlier this year, though...

Beat them earlier in the year at full strength. Was without UCONN signee Vance Jackson. Game started down 18-3, then went into half down 5 points.

API has the best point guard in the country in trevon duvall. And he played a magnificent floor game. Last time we played, we shut him down. Last night there was no shutting him and Billy Preston down. It was a super physical game (refs allowed it) which fit their style perfectly.

With 7 min to play it was a 4 point game. We missed two free throws to cut it to two points. Then our team received 4 technical fouls in a 2 min span. Players and coaches lost their cool (josh was ejected). The game got out of hand quick after the 8 technical free throws.

No excuses! Bad environment and emotions played a part. The last 7min turned into a party for the other team while our squad let frustrations rule their effort. That won't happen again. But to API credit they do have 3 guys in top 10 of their class and 4 NBA prospects on roster. They were way more prepared this time and coached better

Until U go to games, this is national prep basketball. Anything can happen any night cause of the talent level (just like the NBA). Tonight we have 6-10" Kentucky signee Sacha Killea-Jones. Will not be at full strength but have to bounce back. This is what we signed up for. No cupcakes ever.

Sometimes good teams have bad games. It happens at all levels including the NBA so why can't it happen with PP?I believe the Warriors who are the best team in the world right now got beat by Detroit a couple weeks ago by about 20 and Dallas beat them by 23. It happens, no shame in that.

Not to detract from the thread but I hear a lot about top players in the country but I'm not sure I've seen somebody better guard in a long time than Lone Peaks Frank Jackson. I caught their game on ESPN last night and holy cow is this kid special. Going to Duke and I think some ratings have him either #2 or #3 in the country but I look for him to be playing in the NBA soon.

As for the PP game sounds like it was one to write off and move on as the ending really sort of spiraled out of control.

Interesting. Obviously I wasn't there, but a team doesn't rack up 4 T's without some players losing their composure. Well, maybe that shows the value of playing in a league. If every game basically is just a showcase, what's the incentive for young men to learn how to control their emotions under pressure and duress? If Josh or anybody else had 2 I hope the coach sits him for a game just like he would have to in most leagues.

No matter the setting kids will learn lessons from technicals. 4 is a bunch and hopefully the kids decide they do not want to go through that again.

Great Analogy to an NBA Season. NBA Coaches do not overreact to Technical Fouls. Games are extremely competitive and passionate. Also, when you have the amount of Alpha males at National Prep on a court at the once, things happen. It was unfortunate situation and something to address and move on. However, a good coach at this level would not over exaggerate against it cause it will lead to more problems. You address it, teach, and move on.

Also, Kentucky basketball is another world. They are very passionate to both extremes. Josh Jackson has received more technicals in the state of Kentucky then his entire career combined. Lets just say with him letting UK and Calipari know early he would never attend their University, his Q Rating in the state (and with Refs isn't very high). The entire state bleeds UK Blue. Until you have been there, its hard to really to explain it.

PP bounced back with a 72-54 win tonight vs Virginia Episcopal School (Top 5 ranked in State of Virginia). They are led by Kentucky bound top 10 Sacha Killea-Jones and a University of Pittsburg point guard signee. A great bounce back win for the guys.

Now on to Tampa next weekend for another set of tough games.

I'm so tired of this player and that player ranking, who cares. On any given night anybody can be beat......at the end of the day are you a good teammate? can you defend? can you pass? When you mention John Calapari his name irks me. Every year he goes out to get the best talent and Kentucky sucks!!

The whole thread was set up to knock PP off their high horse and "smoke them out" after a certified beat down. However, they answered the bell with facts and a plan to fix their shortcomings. It is funny how when you think you have someone down, they show their true colors and rise to the top.

PP has done a wonderful job since they started two years ago yet folks keeping taking shots at them. They are exactly who they advertise to be and serve to a unique clientele. We should really be more supportive than envious over what they have going on in Napa!

Kentucky sucks? Or do they lose at the end of the season because they have major talent that is not yet matured?

Here is what I will say about Prolific Prep. From my perspective, they are what they say they are. There are many other schools around that are doing the same thing (recruiting top athletic talent and putting athletics way way ahead of academics) and pretending that they are not doing that. Places like IMG Academy, PP, etc. at least do not seem to hide their motives or what is really going on. They are adopting the European model which identifies the best athletes in their early teens and places the development of their athletic talent and potential as the primary goal. Whether one agrees with this model or not, these places do not appear to pretend that they are doing something different. That being said, it is not fair to compare their teams with that of regular high school teams. Two different animals, much like comparing FCS with FBS.

"Putting athletics way way ahead of academics". So interesting. How do you make this comparison?

While I agree the vast majority of prep schools DO operate in this manner, Prolific Prep appears to adopt the "european model" for basketball BUT academics is handled by the local elite private school (Justin-Siena). Which, from far away, is a dramatically different model from the majority of prep schools. One would think any student-athlete would jump at the chance to have elite athletics as well as elite academics.

What prolific is doing will really blossom years down the road. What they are doing is very good for the kids that aspire to play ball at the highest level in basketball
