Raleek Brown transfers to Mater Dei from Stockton Edison

Damn that’s a huge blow to Edison I feel bad for them doubt they’ll be as good without him

According to that article: “He has scholarship offers from many colleges including Alabama, Arizona State, Cal, Michigan, Oregon and USC.”

It’s not like he needs more exposure in SoCal in order to be found by the recruiters. Good luck to him.

And the transfer ridiculousness continuous in the SS.

odd it’s a “SS” ridiculousness. The kid is transfering from NorCal south. What is MD or any other institution supposed to do? Turn him away I suppose? Besides it gives everybody another reason or excuse for not winning what they feel they should have.

Fair ?... will he start at MD? I mean this is a place where somebody in front of him could be 6”0 200+ with the same offers. Def won’t get the carries so how does he adapt to not being the “man”? I don’t see any upside other than academic. That has to be the motivation.

So do they call him up and say ok son here is what we can do for you? I’m just assuming the tuition and costs to live in the OC is a tad higher than the beautiful city of Stockton.

He will have a chance to start at MD.... MD has 2 backs returning Craig and Yates.... Craig will move to slot receiver and play DB where they like him better... Yates was the Starter last year but obviously they are not 100% sold on him as a "Game Breaker"....

To your point about the Carries, I would agree with this... unless MD is going to drastically change their offense they are pass first run second... But they had a couple of great QB's the last 5 years, so maybe they will be more run heavy this year....

It is highly unlikely he will be paying any tuition at MD.... Don't know about the other living costs though, Maybe the Family is moving to So Cal?....

Wish the Best for the Kid but wish he would have stayed in Nor Cal... He would have been a Perfect fit for DLS.... But taking in Jr Transfers is not really what DLS does...

In the article by the record it says he never wanted to go to Edison and never wanted to play football in Stockton. Went out to Utah and didn’t like it so moved back and the fall back was Edison but they pretty much knew that’s not where he wanted to be and now they are moving to so cal.

Maybe the strategy is to get less carries. As a Freshman on Varsity they ran him 158 times. That's a lot for that age. Senior QB graduating, maybe the passing game is going to take a step back. He already has his offers, spread out the carries limit the wear and tear until you get to college. I don't like it, but I definitely understand it.

beat me to it... he already has the offers.. why run yourself into the ground and get hurt for a team that win on the level of MD

The CIF needs to set up a statewide transfer rules for all sports and not leave it up to each section.

It simply needs to be 1 set of rules for the entire state. Whatever they may be....
If they could do that we would have an actual state playoff system.Sections have the power

Just wish they’d scrap the Folsom Rule so the top NorCal teams actually play each other.

I don’t see this ever happening unless someone actually beats DLS on the field, because the other sections will never agree to it....

Nobody wants their path to a SBG to go through DLS.... They are all happy with it being an NCS problem....

Way too many games would have to be played to have a true state champ imo. The Open champ is the real state champ.
No 15-16 would do it just as they do now.You scrap section champs and go straight into a state playoff

Agreed. But if they’re not playing the next best NorCal teams every year, they may never lose again in NorCal. I’m just interested in good matchups, rather than how teams can utilize the system to avoid playing the top teams and still get their chance to be state champs.

As long as DLS gets players from out of there district, they very well, may never lose again in NorCal. Great system, great coaching and open enrollment makes a perfect storm.
Here's wishing you great football

Ararar,
So your saying scrap all section championship playoffs and go straight to state championship, or just scrap the championship game and go to state?
