How does a team loose and only move down one spot. All I have to say is WOW. They need to take a lesson from NCAA Duke lost and ranking dropped to #20. But everyone knows that will never change but the good thing about helps fuel the Brookside to prove them wrong. Brookside is like the Detroit Pistons of the old year with Isaiah Thomas everyone hate on them but the won the NBA CHAMPIONSHIP. JUST let it be know Brookside is not going away no time soon.Pico is building a great program like he did Oakland Tech.

I suspect that when/if Brookside beats O'Dowd, they will continue to jettison upward. They, as a team, looked great on Saturday. Aarion was spectacular the fourth quarter making for the most memorable game of the event. It was clear throughout the game that a ten point lead for either team would not be enough to put anyone's mind at rest. Both teams were just that good.

I cannot explain the algorithm of rankers, but I can speculate that it takes more than one win (regardless of who the win is against) to jump several spaces ahead, especially after a slower start. Based on the way they played this weekend, though, it seems like it is just a matter of time before they are closer to the top. They truly look like an exceptional team.

If the teams that beat you does not lose multiple games it makes it tough for you to pass them in the rankings. If team A beats team B and team B goes out and beats teams c and d and look great doing it, it is still difficult to move B above A.

A B C D = Brookside = Rodney Dangerfield
No - Respect you just have too earn it

Again, I think it comes down to the system used by the folks doing the ranking.

Do they count only recent results, or do they look at the whole season? There are cases to be made for both.

Losing in overtime by one is different than losing by 15 at home. Having seven losses is different than having three.

I know some national rankers who lean heavily on talent when placing the teams, and place less emphasis on results. I'm one of those who relies on the scoreboard to tell me who's better, but no system -- in ranking or basketball or life -- is without flaw.

In regards to Pinewood, they stayed high because of wins over O'Dowd and Salesian. Pinewood's resume is still better than Brookside's. If they get closer, then the head-to-head result could prove to be a tiebreaker.

The rankings seem reasonable. Nothing outrageous or ridiculous. We can quibble about a placement or two. None is a big deal. The post-season will be the real decider anyway. And, until some NorCal team beats SMS, they have to be No.1. Which means MM has to be No.2. We can debate the rest.

Pinewood deserve to stay high but Carondelet should have dropped I seen them Saturday ? Not impressed !?!

It looks to me like Carondelet has six "quality losses". In other words they have lost quite a few games, but all those were to high quality opponents -- Mitty, Windward, Brea Olinda, Miramonte, and two out-of-state teams at the TOC. They do have a close call against Foothill that seems a little shaky.

But in a similar analysis, Brookside 's lost to Valley Christian SJ, which is probably a lower quality loss than any of Carondelet's losses. Brookside has also gotten crushed in several of their losses, while Carondelet has only gotten crushed once. Finally, Brookside had a close game against Venture Academy (who?). What's the story about that game?

Rival games are alway close on the road but Brookside will have a better outcome then last game before playoffs which both teams will be in D4 SJS.

Since you want to talk about Carondelet the lost to Mitty by 14 ( Brookside lost by 10) Brentwood Academy by 34, Winward by 4, Mountain View by 9, and MM by 15. Quality win Brea Olinda, Vanden twice, and SMB. Brookside play top teams in the state and not duck anyone at all not saying Carondelet is doing that. Brookside beat SHC, SMB, Si, Pinewood and soon BOD. Very close Brookside is not one of favorite in the rank but like I said gives the fuel to push even harder.

Come on Clay they do not want you to know who they are, it's easier to hide behind a key board.

Playoff's are around the corner, it will all be resolved soon.

Why must you keep it going,,,, you know the saying you sound like a % # " % ~#
Must be one

LOL That's not nice
Actually in respect to your previous post I think you must be miss interpreting the code used to describe you.
%#"%~# . Based upon the post it was in responds too, it obvious refers to someone who respects integrity and accountability.

Antelope will be D2. They don't have the history (no section finals or titles).

gametime....

Normally I would agree with you 100%...BUT in this case they did make it to Norcals last year and they are in the top 11 in the state in MAX PREPS, they are #41 nationally........they were #5 earlier this week before falling in the most recent rankings despite winning all their games.

IF they were to run the table and finish undefeated with a section title and be a top 10 ranked team in the state....no history or not how can they be kept out????

and again...I completely agree with your previous statement if they weren't undefeated and ranked so high....but logic says they HAVE to be in. Doesn't it? lol

If they qualify, they are going up. However, if they don't meet the criteria they will stay d2. Do they meet the criteria?

I'd say their ranking is off. They are a typical public school, average schedule, and have struggled recently against much weaker teams. West Campus and St Francis are only big wins. I just to see them at that level of play (yet). Still need to get through Sac and Modesto Christian in SJS playoffs.

This has been talked about before and I don't think Antelope qualifies for Open. They would have to choose to Opt up (since they don't qualify on the criteria). Monte Vista boys faced a similar decision two years ago, chose to stay in D1 and won a state title. Only instance I know of boys or girls to have a "Open resume" but not qualify based on the criteria.
