Great to see someone post about NCS D1.. uh er news flash DLS will win, not much to talk about.

Now other Divisions... do teams on the bubble get in based on history like Odowd (D3) and Freedom (D1) at 3-7?? Does Mt Eden 7-3, lose league title game to Hayward and now not get into D2? Does 5-5 CVC deserve to be a top 4 seed?

D2 CVC shows some vulnerability, gotta be Campo and San Leandro, maybe Vintage. top 3

D3 is Las Lomas to lose but watch out for Rancho and my sleeper Hayward.

D4 top 4 may be best after D1... Newman, MC, surprising Piner and Acalanes all solid teams that can win it.

D5- Encinal squeaks by Odowd to stay at 1 and Del Norte beat Moreau by 1 early will be #2, not sold on De Anza

D6- Justin Siena upset over American Canyon makes this division look more interesting

D7 - Ridiculous we have 7 divisions but Salesian clearly head of the class

NCS pairings out Nov 10 so we got a whole week to chat about what will be...lets hear it!!

I get that DLS will win D1 without breaking a sweat, but there’s no way Freedom cracks the field. The NCS has reduced the field to 8 teams in each division this year, which was a good move that unfortunately means some mediocre teams won’t get trophies.

So 8 spots. DLS, Pitt & Liberty are already etched in stone. 3-7 Freedom lost to both 7-3 Cal & 7-3 SRV head to head, so there’s no way they’ll bump either of them. AV and Logan are both league champions and receive automatic bids. So basically the only team they have a chance to bump is 7-3 MV. Not gonna happen.

Division 5 has a interesting dilemma at the bottom of the playoff seeds with Fortuna upsetting the ST. Bernard’s crusaders yesterday......the 4-6 huskies qualify with a 2-1 league record. There are multiple teams at the bottom that qualify. Do the defending section champs get the nod? And do they put them at 7 or 8 ? Full disclosure I’m a Del Norte warrior fan just hoping the huskies get a chance.

D2 CVC shows some vulnerability, gotta be Campo and San Leandro, maybe Vintage. top 3

Campo has shown some vulnerability this year as well, getting spanked by Mack and barely beating Amador Valley early, and then being upended by Acalanes 2 weeks ago. CVC’s losses have all been to D1 playoff teams. I still think Campo is the team to beat in D2, but it should at least be interesting. Maybe CVC doesn’t get the 2 seed due to their record, but it may be another Campo-CVC final.

San Leandro & Vintage are decent but flawed. Vintage barely got by Napa in the final minute to win the Vine the other night. SL is hit and miss but they could pose a threat. Foothill comes in battles tested from the EBAL Mountain, but losses to SL & Amador Valley were questionable, and they got stomped by CVC 41-0. That’s my top 5

The rest of the D2 field is going to be tough to draw up, with 7 second place teams knocking on the door for the final 3 seeds. 8-2 Redwood and 7-3 Napa make solid cases and should both make the field.

That would leave one spot up for grabs between the EBAL Valley’s 3 2nd place tied finishers 6-4 Livermore, 6-4 Dublin, & 3-6 Granada, who all split with each other head to head. If you remove Granada due to their overall record, then Livermore beat Dublin head to head and gets the 8th spot. Dublin could still conceivably knock out either Redwood or Napa depend on what all the committee is looking for.

2nd place finishers 7-3 Mt Eden and 7-3 College Park, and 4-6 Castro Valley also are looking for spots but any of them would be long shots.

Newman vs MC could be another epic battle. Been lucky to see some pro’s and good college players come out of those programs.
Would like to see Piner make some noise as well in D4. Always a good bracket.
Rancho plays to best of ability and they will hang with campo.

You mean Las Lomas, since Campo is D2 not D3

Can someone explain to me what Clayton Valley Charter has on the NCS CIF Panel? First gets the EBAL over the BVAL League even though proximity wise makes more sense? Then get dropped to D2 then go 500 and get the 1 Seed? Something is not right here.

Let’s not forget all the questionable actions the program has had/made over the years with frankly little or no penalty. Honestly I think NCS wants another high profile program on the state level to go along with DLS. They seem to have picked CVC to be that program. Probably because they have a open boarder. There is absolutely no justification for having them in D2 to begin with, then give them the 1 seed when they go 5-5 and frankly booked a weak schedule is a head scratcher. The program is underachieving when big picture is looked at. They will run D2 playoffs and likely rep NorCal at state. All by simply placing them where they have no business being.

It’s going to be newman vs MC. Both are deserving of a 1 seed but I don’t see either challenged until they meet.
Be careful, in round 2 Acalanes could give MC all they can handle and maybe with the right breaks and a little luck who knows ? Just ask Campo.

All of the division seedings look pretty good except D2. CVC is good, but their seed is not consistent with all of the other divisions seeding. Vintage and Campo should have been clear 1 & 2. Did they have the same committee for all of the divisions?

I understand there were two 3-person committees that seeded the 7 divisions as well as the 8-man football division. It’s possible the committee for D2 took into account CVC’s recent dominance over Campo to give them the top seed in D2, as it couldn’t have been their on field performance this season.

I don't have an issue with CVC being the top seed, but it goes to show why they shouldn't be D2. Their history, talent and schedule they play all point to a Division I program

And they clearly wouldn’t have made the 8-team field this year in D1. They lost to 5 of them (DLS, Liberty, SRV, MV & Cal) head to head, and the other 3 were all automatic due to winning their leagues (Pitt, Logan & AV).

Exactly. They are a D1 program that isn't good enough to be in the playoffs this year. In this system, they get to play D2, have a good chance to win section and play in a NorCal game. Looks wrong IMO

Snubbing Bubble teams too. Ya...I am a little Bitter! Haha!

It looks more than a little odd. Imagine they move on to rep NorCal at state and somehow actually win. A team that went 5-5 would be a state champion? That just makes CA. (NorCal especially) Look more than just a little ridiculous in my opinion.

I think Sierra won a state title after finishing 4th or 5th in the VOL so it wouldn’t be the first time NorCal has sent a team with less than stellar qualifications.

Ok. Still doesn’t change the fact it looks pretty ridiculous.

How is it even allowed? They're a D1 team that plays in a D1 league.

I definitely think CVC is a D1 team hands down but why shouldn't they be the #1 seed in D2? Their record is 5-5 but they played a tough schedule Campo and Vintage have nice records but against average competition.....I think the argument can be made they shouldn't be in D2 but not whether they are #1 seed....Campo seems down a bit this year and Vintage is nice team but not in CVC class. IMO NCS got it right seeding them #1
