Hahha. You either love em or hate em.
but I like the move. I think he gets lost at Bama /GA.
kid has a lot of heart. I’m not a Folsom fan but hard not to root for him .
You like the move because you can continue to hide behind the “he’d get lost at …” nonsense. And can’t be proven wrong.
Fact is Flores was heavily recruited by ALL the top programs because they ALL felt he’d play for them eventually.
Many recruits sit for a year or two. That’s the nature of the game for the majority. Both Ngata’s got lost for a while at Clemson and ASU, right?
Joe Burrow got “lost” at tOSU for 3 years then played merely ok in year 4 at LSU before busting out and winning the Heisman and a Nat’l title in year 5.
Doesn’t change that he was an elite top level prospect worthy of anybody’s time and scholarship offer.
As I told you before, none of these elite top level programs are offering full rides to kids they don’t believe “will ever sniff the field”. Every full ride is a precious commodity and the very top programs are typically more selective.
While many top prospects disappoint — that’s not the expectation going in.
Julian Fleming and Jaxson Smith-Njigba were both elite prospects for Ohio State in their 2020 class, with Fleming being the higher rated, more hyped of the two.
Fleming has barely “sniffed the field” over the 2 years he’s been there while JSN has starred and become the widely viewed top receiver in the country.
Similarly, Jameson Williams “got lost” at Ohio State for 2 years before becoming the #1 receiver last season at Alabama of all places then becoming a top 15 draft pick.
You just never know with any prospect.
With regard to Rico Flores, who knows how his career at ND will turn out (if he indeed stays committed and signs there).
Facts are he holds over 30 offers to D1 schools and just spurned not only Bama and Georgia, but also the team recruiting and developing the best receivers in the country the past few years in Ohio State.
That doesn’t happen if he’s not considered extremely talented and worthy by these top talent evaluators and coaches.
And at this point in time if Brian Hartline and Ryan Day believes a receiving prospect is worthy of a spot in their receiver room — what better validation is there??
Rico Flores was gonna have as good a shot at not getting lost as any other prospect no matter where he chose to play.
What actually happens over the next few years doesn’t change that.
Lastly, Flores is every bit of the same prospect all 3 Ngata’s were. I happen to think he fares better than Joe has thus far.
