I heard a rumor that because of Covid DLS only has 26 players available to play this week against Cal High. Is anyone else hearing about this? If this is true, I guess it boils down to which 26?

The Story is on Max Preps By Mitch Stephens….. Coach A is out as well as some players but not 26….

The Article also said that Coach Edsion is coming out of Retirement to Help Coach This week with Coach A out….

Cal is 6-0 and looks pretty good, but unless DLS will be without many players I am not sure if they can overtake the Spartans. If they really only suit 26 and lose it will be a great accomplishment for Cal, although I am sure they will be demolished in NCS D1 play if they meet again. What a crap way to end the NCS winning streak if they are severely undermanned though, this coming from someone who has no relation to DLS really at all, although if you want to consider sharing the same religion go ahead.

There are not that many players out and SO FAR none of the top players are out from what I have heard….

Could always change though we will find out Friday but the comment of DLS only having 26 players was just a rumor… I have heard it is 6 or 7 that will miss the game….

I heard that its about 30 players including Zec Barry. Not sure if any other key players are out but it should be interesting.

Hearing things like this as well… Didn't want to put it out there though because I was way off earlier….

Seems to be getting worse as the day goes on so I figure I would just see where it lands tomorrow….

It’s going to be a tough night for DLS, I just hope Everyone who is affected and their families are ok…. The Football is secondary right now….

When are the teams tested? Does the CIF or NCS require they test each team once per week? If more than a handful test positive early in the week, do they test again before the game? I am not familiar with the current protocols.

The latest from my very reliable source is that DLS will be without 30 players tonight, making 40 available to play. There will be three starters not playing and that includes Zeke Berry. When you think about it being a two way starter makes the loss of Berry equivalent to two out of 22 starting positions. IMO it will still take a Herculean effort by the Grizzlies to come out on top.

Got it - to me it seemed noteworthy based on all the flack Walsh got from another bay area newspaper article.
nowhere has any medical professional said the vaccine prevents you from getting covid. so that was curious wording on his part. 'despite being fully vaccinated.'

I would agree its a tall task. But if I was DLS and had to pick a team to play in this situation it would not be the Grizzlies. They are very physical and have given DLS all they can handle in the past. GO CAL!!!

This is Just Crazy….. Think of The Chain Reaction this could cause…. They say COVID take 2 weeks of so to show up positive so that Means Folsom Could have it, Pass It to Rocklin and so on….

This is Awful…. You would think for the safety of everyone involved DLS should Forfit the game against Cal, because what if Cal gets it from DLS…. Now you could have all the EBAL teams get it as well….

Would hate to see something like this end of affecting 5-10 different teams…. Just crazy, I feel for the kids at DLS my son has several good friends at DLS and everyone is worried about this on the campus….

what is the purpose of you saying, despite being fully vaccinated?
He is vaccinated, symptoms

Let's not get political here but I bet that will not happen. It is nearly impossible to transmit a respiratory illness like COVID outdoors, even with heavy breathing. It is passed through aerosols so in a enclosed small room with no ventilation a contagious person would form a "cloud" and being exposed to that "cloud" for around 15 minutes (sometimes more or less) would be enough to transmit depending on immune system, vaccine status, ect.

Hope for DLS they are at full go next week! I hate to see kids miss any part of the season, every game is so precious and the experience to so short, even when DLS plays 14-15 games a year it is so finite and it ends forever after Senior year. You cannot turn back father time.

I haven’t seen the Grizzlies play this year but I hear they aren’t real strong in the trenches, which gives me concern playing DLS. I’m hearing the strength of Cal High is at their skill positions. Would be very cool if they can pull it off.

Plenty of opportunity for the journalist to be accurate with what vaccination can and cannot do. He passed. Especially on the quarantine versus isolation definition.
