Top 5 sacbee POY candidates 2018-19 season no particular order.

Nia Lowery-Ckm big improvement
Brianna Juniel-CBS strong workhorse
Maile Williams-CC flat out stud
Ryanne Walters-sachigh smooth steady pg
Nailah Dillard-Inderkum big scorer

Again just my humble opinion. Apologies if I missed a player. But these top 5 players come to mind.

So Maile Williams is playing at Capital Christian this year? Isn't that the school that just fired their long time coach for no apparent reason?

Yes, just heard the news she is at CC. That makes them a contender for a D3 section title. I’m not sure who they hired but they have a new coach.

It's really weird.
Weird? Hype? Weird is that there are 4 other players listed you can converse about. Sorry I was unaware of the negativity towards her, which is disappointing they’re all good players.

No shade here. Never seen her play. Im sure she's solid. Its just weird I've seen her name posted on here 3x as much as anyone else. I really should find some time to watch her this year

Seen her play few times had no idea she is at CC. Agreed, if that’s true seems a bit much to be mentioned. Although It’s plenty of talent in Norcal, I would like to see Angel Jackson play!

I'd like to watch Haley Jones live, Nia lowery, and hannah at pinewood. I will make sure that happens for me this year. Serious talent out there.

Yes those 3 are a treat to watch! All high character kids. I will make sure I watch Jones myself. Kelly did a fantastic job this summer with his calstars group.

I think it is always good to stay as positive as possible. I have watched four of the five players play in person and all are very talented. I have not watched MW play and assuming PBA is her father or a supporter or why else or how would she be mentioned with those players? Three schools in three years is definitely a red flag but more than likely toward the decision maker and not the kid.

IS CC in the WCJ...I see nothing on the schedule from 12/3 to 1/2....Clay I assume you have them already or have tried...
Maile or her dad if you ever need some help...next summer let me know....I have lots of SAQ stuff

Boys transfer all the time, maybe you should watch all 5 play. However for clarity I am a supporter of basketball. Coached many years. But thanks for your in put.

3 schools in 3 years? I am not sure I am aware of any other player in California that has played for three different high schools in three years. You are correct, I should watch all five play but I am not sure what that has to do with transferring schools every year.

I can think of one that Clay coached briefly about 10 years ago, but it is pretty rare. Never heard of 4 in 4 years, yet...

B. Juniel has moved out of the area.

Capital Christian has hired Stephanie Jordan as its new head coach

For POY names, I think it centers on Harriel, Lowery and Walters.

From live experience and coaching in the area I wouldnt say Maile is a top 5 player (yet) in the area.

R. Walters from Sac Hi is IMO the best player in the section.

Jada Lewis (Whitney) is a potential POY winner as well.

Harriel is (antelope) on pace to be the best player on this list by the time she is a senior. She is a flat out Baller.

Dillard is probably the best overall scorer but needs to play both ends of the floor. Lack of team support and wins keeps her from POY.

Anaya Meija (Bradshaw) will also make some noise this year...

Nia Lowery is Very good, Very Very good but her numbers wont stand out because she has a good supporting cast around her as well.

Other names to mention are J. Goodwin (antelope), B. Shine (C. Brothers), K. Hall (MCK), A. Avent (Sac hi?)

Top 10 players in Sac.

Not trying to offend anyone this is just my opinion. I apologize if anyone gets offended if someone has been left off.

Capital Christian, Pinewood, West Campus and SMS, among others, are all in the Jamboree.

Or at least Capital Christian was before the new coach came in. Hopefully they'll still be playing but any time a coach changes, schedule changes are possible.

Dillarard, ALL belong on the list but how do you forget about
Anya Mejia- Bradshaw Christian
Gabriell Rones-West Campus
Jzaniya Harriel-Antelope
No shade but Maile Williams does not belong on this list "YET"

Gotta put my list on here as well...I'm going to put top 10, should be first team all city and 2nd team all city this year. All the names mentioned previously are right on point though. Hopefully the Sacramento area teams continue their success, will be fun to see how they match up with the good teams from bay area.
1. Harriel from Antelope is the real deal-I am predicting she will be POY and only a sophomore. She has a motor that does not stop, killer attitude and super aggressive.
2. Lowery and Hall from McClatchy-these 2 girls should be 1st team all city. Both super skilled and athletic.
3. Walters from Sac High-pretty much unstoppable on the offensive end, very smooth, quick and will shoot from anywhere.
4. Jada Lewis from Whitney-I am a big fan of her game, very unselfish, great all around team player, has ability to score, rebound, get assists and steals.
5. Nailah Dillard-Inderkum-will average 30 points per game this season. Similar game to Ryanne, silky smooth, absolute unstoppable scorer.
6. Anya Mejia-Bradshaw Christian-they are not surprise team this year. Anya is amazing player, great supporting cast. Great size and can do everything.
7. Bria Shine-Christian Brothers-with Juniel gone, Bria's time to step up and be a team leader this season.
8. Folsom-Charity Gallegos and Hannah Beckman- with Forbes gone, no one talking about Folsom, but will be solid with Harris younger sister too.
9. Other girls worth mentioning-Rones from West Campus, Goodwin and Spann from Antelope, Hess and Rosette from Cosumnes Oaks, Avent from Sac.

This is the best post, but don't forget Madison Perry (Del Oro) and Kaijia Lesane (Antelope) both are high level ballers.

Great list

Thank you to everybody’s input. Every player listed is talented. Pray for a healthy season, good luck to every team in norcal.

Kamryn Hall is better than every player In the area. Surprised that she’s not making anyone’s list. At 6’2” she runs point, can dribble drive, outstanding passer and can knockdown 3’s. Super high Basketball IQ and unselfish.

I have her on my list!

With her and Lowery, McClatchy should really be the best team in the area this year. But have to put it together on the court, will be fun to see how this season plays out.

Agreed. Big drop off from the starting 5 to the bench though. They’ve got a pretty good crop of incoming freshman, if they produce watch out.

Please take a seat!!!!!
Best player in the Area. She is Decent but she is NOWHERE near the best player in the area and im sure there are others reading this that want to speak but also want to keep it politically correct...

You gave an opinion backed by zero insight or facts. Name a player with a better combination of size and skill. I’ll wait. Was injured last season and still made 3rd team metro. Played with Team Taurasi this summer. Can get her shot off against any defender on the West Coast. Facts. Lots of talented girls but next to McKenzie Forbes Kam was the best player in Metro last year and I watched ALOT of Metro games. Not sure you did.

LOL, I actually know her and her team very well actually. She is a good player, im not taking that away from her. BUT to say she is hands down the best is a BIG REACH. NIA LOWERY, NIALAH DILLARD, ADRIANNA AVENT AND JADA LEWIS are all similar in size, Jada and Nialah shoot better, and they all can pass very well. Im POSITIVE that they all get to the basket easier than Hall. She should go D1. She is talented. BUT SHE is not the best player in the Area that is by far a reach.

Ryane Walters get my VOTE. and if u compare the two Kam wouldnt be able to stay in front of Ryanne one bit.

Jzaniya Harriel, but I'm extremely bias, she's for sure in the conversation and has the complete game.

Come on now guys, there is no real reason to argue about this. Each of these girls deserves their props for being the best overall players in the Area. But all of them have different styles and strengths. Kam Hall is an extremely talented player at her size, but she is not the same type of player as any of these girls mentioned, as she doesn't have quite the same explosiveness, quickness or athleticism. I think she is the best rebounder and her defense around the basket is better than all of them though. Her basketball IQ is very good, and she is a very good ball handler and passer. Great teammate and good attitude also. Hopefully she is able to stay healthy her senior season and really show out.

Was confused here. But you must be thinking of CB(Christian Brothers) which is a D3 school. CC os Division 5

Ryanne Walters plays hard and is smooth as silk. She gets my vote. I also love watching Bria Shine play. She can do it all.
