Hoping SHC would host a tourney or schedule more home non-leagues this season.
It'll be interesting to see how SHC fares this year with Coach Mackay at the helm. Will the remaining kids in the program buy into his system and/or be a good fit for said system. Barbour didn't leave the cupboard completely bare as there is still some talent there to work with for Coach Mackay.
I expect the WCAL to be below average this year as both St Francis and Serra should be way down this year although Logan Johnson is a BEAST and Coach Rapp always coaches them up. Bellarmine, SI and Mitty have a fair amount of returning talent. Predicting the order of finish this year in the WCAL will be a challenge to say the least.

With Williams-Sheppard graduating, Hollins, Hillman, and Smith all gone, Coach Mackay will have his work cut out for him. If he can make Carter fulfill his potential that would help the depleted squad immensely. The still have Nathan Robinson and Dunbar returning (maybe some transfers as well). They went from being the most talented team in the league to around the middle of the pack IMO.
Serra will not be "way down" this year as they have more talent returning than people realize, plus Coach Rapp. St. Francis on the other hand...that's who I'd describe as way down. Even with Logan Johnson. St. Ignatius by FAR has the most talent and deepest roster in the league this year.

Andre Kelly 6-7 (2018) from Stockton enrolled at Riordan last Spring, but had a change of heart and went back to Stockton. Apparently, he played very well at the recent NorCal Select Showdown. SI and Bellarmine appear to return the most players. Never underestimate Serra with Coach Rapp at the helm. Mitty returns some talent and won't be surprised if they add a transfer or two.Ic any interesting freshman at SHC that will be playing basketball?? Rumor had it that some big kid from Stockton came to an SF school.

Riordan has some incoming frosh players with height, but not good enough to crack a varsity spot at this time. Guard play will be the Crusaders strength, but they will be severely vertically-challenged. Looking forward to seeing the Irish as talent remains (tapped or untapped). Why the departure of some of their returning players? Never heard of Coach Mackay, but hear he comes with great credentials.

Serdaprs, a Riordan parent whose son is in the same class and got to know the family told me. If in fact he took a look at all 4 schools definitely shows he had a change of heart.Jordan you may know more than I but I don't think he enrolled at Riordan. He was also was at SI, Serra and Valley too looking to transfer. He played with Wilson and Santos on his AAU team
I hadn't heard about Hillman and Smith transferring. Anyone know where they transferred to? When I made the Serra comment I had discounted their 7' center and I know that James is a good junior but don't know a lot about the other returnees. Lastly, I know better than to ever count out a Coach Rapp led team.
I don't know if Hillman transferred...But apparently Smith is attending El Cerrito? I last heard but this is unconfirmed, but he is not at the school.
Mr. Direct, J2, 1DNA, are you guys familiar with Jelani Clark 2019 @ Riordan? Apparently he was at the NorCal Select...Did not see him on any of last year's rosters.
My kid graduated 2 years ago, so I dont have insider knowledge any longer and haven't seen Buck since last season. Regardless, they need something to infuse that program.Mr. Direct, J2, 1DNA, are you guys familiar with Jelani Clark 2019 @ Riordan? Ok. I got 2019 based on a tweet from Class of Hoops mentioning Jelani participating @ the NorCalSelect last week. I also understand a SF Prep Hall of Famer/Riordan Hoops grad's son is also an incoming Crusader frosh? That's because he's an incoming freshman class of 2020 . My son played against him at the AAU level the past few years and is a friend of his so I know him / his game pretty well. He was the freshman that I alluded to in my earlier post. He played for the Oakland Rebels as well as Oakland Soldiers. Good kid, very athletic and attacks the rim and is one of the faster guys with the basketball that I've seen in his class.
What year did he play at Riordan? It's always good to see legacy players.Ok. I got 2019 based on a tweet from Class of Hoops mentioning Jelani participating @ the NorCalSelect last week. I also understand a SF Prep Hall of Famer/Riordan Hoops grad's son is also an incoming Crusader frosh?

Cool. Got an alum checkin in from Texas. Would be good if it was hoop season.Dwayne Fontana's son. Nice.
Let's just say Hillman was not invited back. Booted!I don't know if Hillman transferred...But apparently Smith is attending El Cerrito? I last heard but this is unconfirmed, but he is not at the school.
I wonder if his son is an inside player. The Crusaders need an inside presence big time. If he's half as good as his dad was it will be a nice addition.Dwayne Fontana's son. Nice.

So did he do something he wasn't suppose to or maybe grades etc...or is it more of the new style or new regime from the new Coach coming in and just won't fit?
Any insight on how this new team will look? Any Freshman possibly on the team?
He did something he wasn't supposed to do. My insight comes from one of the basketball dad's. Dad seemed pretty optimistic about the team. Also mentioned I believe Emmet Neal, a freshman who played jv's last year as a player who is impressive. So did he do something he wasn't suppose to or maybe grades etc...or is it more of the new style or new regime from the new Coach coming in and just won't fit?

I know of at least one incoming SHC freshman who is a very good player - Bryce Monroe. He's a little under 6' but is one of the most competitive, confident and fearless guards that I've seen on the AAU level. Teammate with Jelani Clark (Riordan) on Oakland Rebels AAU teams. I've heard he is playing up on varsity this year or at least that's the plan. He'll fill in nicely for Kamiri Smith if he's moved on.
He's listed on the frosh football roster. Wears #4.
