San Benito High School name finally officially changed back to Hollister High

About time - every local fan already thinks of the Haybalers as Hollister. But I believe this change signals growth in the area, making way for other big high schools.

I always preferred schools just be named after their neighborhood or town or geographic region. Some that make sense-

Logan- Union City High
Liberty- Brentwood
Freedom-Oakley
Drake/willams-West Marin High
Analy-West County
Concord named schools after areas, Santa Rosa missed that theme, Fremont and Brentwood have that Patriotic theme.
not sure naming schools after people is best, library’s stadiums yes but schools represent community not a person.

what was it being called?
The official name had been San Benito County High School when there was only 1 high school in the county. A few years after Anzar High opened, then shortened it to San Benito High.

But, if you attended any of their games in just about all (if not all) sports, all of the jerseys and fan swag always said “Hollister”.

I never stopped calling them Hollister. I refused to call them San Benito in any form.
