April Phillips, considered a rising coach, has been hired at San Jose State. She was most recently an assistant at Cal and Texas.
BRUHThere is no reason she should ever leave the Bay Area to recruit, we have enough talent here to consistently win national championships game in and game out. The BVAL alone has the talent and so do some of the lesser leagues as well. Hopefully she sees the light that the old coach didn't.
Let's make that the state of California as a whole. Recruiting south of King City is a no-brainer too. One wag has observed that you could rent an apartment in downtown Fullerton, recruit only in Orange County and find enough talent to be successful in Division I.There is no reason she should ever leave the Bay Area to recruit, we have enough talent here to consistently win national championships game in and game out. San Jose State is in the Bay Area. They must stay local and recruit BAY AREA TALENT only or move the school if they think there’s not enough talent here to succeed. You couldn’t be more wrong you just have to know where to look and actually care enough to do so. Which is San Jose’s problem.Sorry. Way too much competition for prep talent in NorCal. Spartans are low-woman on the totem pole at this point. They need to recruit wherever they can. Confining them to the Bay Area is a formula for further failure.
