SB Live Players of the Year, North Coast Section

Heard that Blair might be leaving DLS for IMG to focus on baseball. Supposed to be a pretty good pitcher. A little surprising as DLS has an outstanding baseball program as well and has churned out both college players and pro’s recently. That is through the rumor mill though and not confirmed in any way.

Gades......You are usually pretty spot on but I hope this info is wrong. Blair is a pretty important cog in Coach Schroeder's basketball program. ......and the Spartan baseball program is running pretty smooth right.

Just looked at DLS' baseball rosters on MaxPreps... I don't see Blair on Varsity or JV... Make me wonder if he has left already.

ok…. maxpreps doesn’t have frosh roster. Shoulda looked at the DLS website.

Very similar to Noah Clifford leaving DLS after his sophomore year to concentrate on football. I hear they have a decent football program as well.

Just curious . If he is that good to be considering an IMG transfer, why would he only be on the freshman team
Good question. I actually looked up DLS baseball on MaxPreps last week to see how he was doing. There were 37 players on the varsity and about a dozen of them had not seen much playing time at all. I’m sure they want to make sure he had plenty of starts, and they’ve always got some tough pitchers at the varsity level.

Honestly I wonder the same thing. Like I said this is purely a rumor coming from someone else who is not connected to DLS but is connected in the high school sports realm due to their kids playing.

DLS baseball has been absolutely loaded for years now so it would be pretty hard for a freshman to crack the lineup but you would also think staying the course and trusting that he can develop there given the track record of players produced would be a wise move.

who knows. Definitely would be a big loss for the bball program though. Interesting that they have had issues keeping their stars in that program.

While I get they have a large roster , I have a hard time believing if a kid is good enough to go to a Florida academy , then he should at very least be able to play DLS JV. You can’t teach 6’-5” . The frosh team is terrible . You can always find room for a good pitcher on any team.
Maybe that’s part of the issue. I see parents all the time at all levels of baseball and softball be dissatisfied with their position and look to greener pastures. Just looking De La has used 12 pitchers on varsity and 8 on JV. If he is that good there can’t be 20 pitchers better at your school.

Maybe so or maybe not..... As Renegades says in so many words his info is not direct from the horse's mouth.
Could be another case of helicopter parent/ daddy ball expressing dissatisfaction with coaching attention to his son. We've seen it recently with the arrival in and then transfer out of the Montana boy and later with the McKenzie boy. Of course that was football but I think you will find a mostly team first on most of the athletic programs there at the corner of Treat and Winton Blvd's.

You guys remember Daniel Susac from Jesuit who is now all everything at Arizona? Jesuit had a prior unwritten rule that fresh don’t play varsity. This kid was throwing in the low 90’s playing frosh baseball. He gets called up in SJS sections and throws a 2 hitter against a loaded Franklin team. Brother was in the bigs.. it was a no brainer but Jesuit coach rule.

I don't know the inner workings for Blair at all, but DLS has a history of slow playing their pitchers. Like D1 commits being on JV.

What is weird is that he’s been playing above his age group and succeeding in travel ball, and now as an 8th grade holdback he is actually pitching below his age group pitching against frosh.
