Truly disappointing. The failure on so many accounts.
Big brother is watching you - this action may top some heavy-handed actions portrayed in Orwell's futuristic novel 1984. Some will say - they knew the rules. Well those were the rules in Orwell's 1984 novel too. Public shaming to an extreme...

Thats no bueno. Maybe this will "Woke" them

Sad, these kids only get 4 years to participate in HS sports. Its truly sad bureaucrats feel A need to ruin that.
Although this has already been discussed ad nauseam, let me get this straight...

If you tell your teenage kid that they need to clean their rooms before they go out with their friends, then, when the time comes and you've found they haven't done what you asked, you still let them go? Why should an adult ruin the kids' fun. Right? This is what you're saying?

Let's make this a little more relevant... what if they dropped a glass bottle in the kitchen and refused to clean it up. Yes, others could try to be careful and step around the broken glass, but isn't it the responsibility of the person who dropped it to reduce the danger to those around them? Right? But, ya know... the kid won't probably won't get hurt, so who cares about anyone else who needs to use the kitchen. Right? This is also what you're saying?

It was a rule in order to play. You either choose to follow the rule or you don't get to play a game that is entirely based on rules. These kids chose not to play. It's really very simple.

As to this notion that the vaccine doesn't actually prevent anyone from getting sick, I'll share my personal story with which I've been dealing for this past week...

My gf (fully vaccinated) went to a training seminar in a different state (a purple state) where no one was wearing a mask. When she got back a week from last Friday, I picked her up from the airport, then sat closely with her on the sofa while watching tv for about an hour. The next morning, she tested positive for COVID. She's been having the usual shortness of breath, loss of smell/taste, and fatigue symptoms. She just tested positive again on Sunday, so she's still definitely sick. Thankfully, though, she's does not currently appear to be at risk of needing hospitalization.

That news came to me just after I picked up my daughter for a weekend visit. So, then both my daughter and I had to quarantine for a week, which meant she had to miss school. I had to miss a business trip and work from home. My gf has also had to make several unusual arrangements for food and to get her kids to and from school.

By the end of Saturday, I was feeling an odd tingle in my chest and my temperature went up by about 1 degree. This carried through until about late Tuesday. Wednesday morning, my daughter and I got tested. We didn't get the results until Friday evening. Negative. We took an at-home rapid test shortly afterward. Thankfully, also negative. I was able to take my daughter back to her mother and she's now back in school as I type this.

People can claim whatever they want about what the vaccine does or doesn't do, but I 100% attribute me not developing a positive result and illness due to not only getting myself vaccinated, but also having just received my booster on the preceding Monday.

Everyone needs to take off the blinders where they only think of themselves and how they think they'd respond if they contracted the virus. There are so many domino effects that have to be considered, even if you do pull through ok. We're all in this freakin' mess together. We need to stop thinking selfishly.

Scarey but good to hear you all are coming through ok with no hospitalization. Good Luck for your immediate futures.

Glad you and your daughter are ok, and hope you get over your cold/flu. No reason to throw the purple state thing in your post either.
My personal experience is my wife is an X-ray tech and X-Rayed Covid patients daily from the beginning and did so unvaccinated until her job was in jeopardy. Luckily or from being aware of its transmission never got Covid or brought it home.
My recommendation, wear a mask, wash your hands and be aware of your surroundings. If you want the vaccination, great, if not, fine also. Tired of the blame game.

Cal, I'm glad to hear you're ok, and I get where you're coming from. "Rules are the rules" but again I don't agree with kids being prevented from playing. Here's a coach, started season with 15 kids, was able to double the size of the team along the way, keeping kids off the streets and giving them something positive to be a part of. Does kicking them to the curb really teach them a lesson? Do they run out and get the shot because of it? Probably not...

chances are greater of running down slauson and crenshaw and getting shot are pretty high. or did you mean the covid shot?
these kids knew the rules. they assumed the rules do not apply. the coaches should not be surprised as they knew as well.

what is a purple state?

what is a purple state?
It means that it does not typically lean Democrat or Republican, but rather usually has representation from either party. It's both blue (Dem) and red (Rep), making it purple.

It also remains significant to my story, as I travel around the country a lot for work. I had never really had concerns for my safety until I recently went to Nebraska (a red state). That was the first time I took food back to my hotel every night because I didn't feel I could trust anyone else around me.

This state where my gf went has Dem leadership, but a strong Rep populace. The company where this was held both required everyone to come back to the office and did not put in a vaccine or mask requirement. In my company, we had to get special permission to come into any office for about a year.

I don't live there, nor have I ever been there, so I'm not going to assume anything. But if what you are saying is true, I can understand why the fear of getting COVID is probably pretty low when faced with that every day. So for sure let's put them out on the streets...that will teach them.

that is why i say it is the coaches. they in this environment have to deal with many things off the field. i am surprised they allowed this. sure the coaches couldnt force a vaccine but somehow get these kids to do what it takes. everyone knew the rules. i know the hoop team wont be forfeiting. thy know the game now.

Second paragraph first sentence. It would seem vaccination didn’t work as advertised, did it? Glad you and your kid are ok that’s good news. By the way do you happen to have the numbers on positive tests in HS athletes? Do you have a report that shows deaths in HS athletes due to sports and no vaccine? Is there a new study on this or is it just a giant virtue signal like everything else here? And big brother flexing because they can and lemmings will follow. Kids are virtually at zero risk stop the nonsense, that is the science.

Bingo! Odds are they won’t get vaccinated if they haven’t already. And frankly shouldn’t since age group and risk is minimal, but again it should be individual choice and shouldn’t be punished if person doesn’t choose what the grifters want. Take this admins mouth piece Jen Saki who tested positive by the way. In telling us this she also said she is “fully vaccinated“ practices the ”6 ft.” Rule and wears her “mask” yet still tested positive. Now either (A.) She is a liar, or (B.) The mandates, masks, vaccines, etc, don’t work And are simply about compliance. People need to decide for themselves not be forced by government or peer pressure.

You do this afterward with your family, not before. Please tell me you're smarter than this. I'm having serious doubts.

When it comes to the vaccines? Well I went to my specialist friend. And asked his opinion. He gave me the risk factors. And said he has taken the vaccine. So I will trust a Dr I know. But it's still your own choice.

In my field, people like you are said to "know just enough to be dangerous". You claim to understand situations, but the details fly way over your heads. If it's not a zero-sum situation, you want to throw out an entire notion. That's not how any of this works.

If a viral load is big enough, just about every vaccine can be defeated. You do your best to mitigate those chances.

Once again, though, you simply lack the capacity to think of anyone but yourself.

A cousin of mine used to be a manager at a retail store. He would tell his new employees that he never fires anyone, but a number of people have gotten themselves fired.

It's the sections' game. They set the rules. You either abide by them our don't play. "No ref, I disagree that I shouldn't be able to tackle someone by the facemask. I have rights!"

Do what? Allow my adult kids to make decisions for themselves? Absolutely! I can tell you this if my kids were still in grade school through HS and I was making decisions, they would not be getting this jab.

Dude we are at a point where medical professionals are losing their jobs for not taking a vaccine. Why? We are losing police, fireman, truckers, etc……over a vaccine that requires a booster every 4 months why? Over a 1% death rate? Get out of here with your BS. People should have the right to choose! Where is your study unvaccinated HS kids playing sports is dangerous? Oh that’s right you don’t have one why? Because one hasn’t been done! Please tell me your not this dim. I’m starting to have serious doubts.

Ankle assasin, Why is it every post from you is so angry/edgy "street". Seriously, what set do you claim, Your clearly not bay area, and obviously younger then 30. I'm envious your youthful, so much to learn young padawan.

Heres a tip youngblood, study football, it transcends that which divides us. Sorry to be the one to say this on this board.

This is dumb. Healthy people rarely have died from Covid. People with pre existing health conditions and those with compromised immune systems face many more dangers than those who don’t. Your average Hs athlete has neither. These are the facts. Believe what you want from the media and medical experts. Sadly many of them are no longer objective.

What are you even referring too Seriously. When did I say I was quoting a scientist? But I’ll play along, please forward any study anywhere that says kids are at risk here? Heck for that matter healthy adults are at risk.

Fact!

You all are missing the point. I can assure you these kids lose in the end. They are kids being asked to make adult decisions. The adults are fed off misinformation period. I’ve had several positive cases on my team and ones we’ve played. Every week we tested no further positives from that one. The high risk have had their chance to get vaccinated. So as adults we are punishing the children, makes no sense. My dad was 90, all he wanted to do was watch his grandkids play ball last spring. Well, 3 weeks after his second dose he died. Vaccine injury, old age whatever. He never got that chance. 0 deaths I’ve heard of as a result from football. I can assure you all, 100’s of football players it tough areas dropped out last year. The effect on that 10-15 years from now will be devistating. Nobody even has a grip on the long term effects of how overkill our state was in comparison to others.

I am 66 years old! Not worried about " in the future"! I made an educated choice. All the people that get their advice from wackadoo youtubers should accept the consequences too. If they don't believe in science? Don't go to the hospital! They practice following science! Don't be a hypocrite! Stand by your choices!

It’s nice that you “attribute” vaccination and a subsequent booster for what you want to believe (confirmation bias), but the only fact is it’s merely your subjective opinion. It’s not provable.

Not only that, it’s a very curious opinion given that your vaccinated GF‘s experience drastically differed from your own. Furthermore you can’t even factually pinpoint when and where infection took place. You’re just speculating. Supposition. But I digress….

It can easily be argued that preachy diatribes are just another form of “thinking selfishly”.

Make decisions for yourself. And allow others the freedom to make decisions for themselves. That’s a much truer expression of unselfishness.

IDC what side of the argument someone is on. We all have differing views and opinions. That’s always going to be the case and is never going to change about ANY subject.

What’s not cool is either side having a holier than thou attitude to the point of forcing dissenters to make the same choices. We live in a free country!

It seems a growing faction want to live in a dynamic society where it’s free sometimes but a dictatorship when deemed necessary.

I didn’t sign up for that, and never will.
