I will comment on NCS/SJS since those are the sections I follow closely. I have a few upsets but mild ones at that.

A lot of these games are going to come down the last minute. I see some great hoops.

NCS
CVC over Heritage 78-75
LL Over Odowd 62-60
Salesian Over Campo 65-45
St Pats over St Joes 58-55
University over Branson 45-44

SJS
MC over Sheldon 64-62
Grant over St Mary's 65-60
CC over Beyer 66-60
West Campus over Placer 60-50
Colfax over Argonaut 58-50

BO by double digits over LL. No drama
Salesian over Campo but much closer than people think.
SPSV easily over the Pilots
University over Branson

SJS
Sheldon in a barn burner
St Mary's over Grant. SM D will shoot well
Bayer
West Canpus comfortably
Colfax dominant

Wow. Love this time of year. Great games and venues. Congratulations to all of teams that have made it this far.

Am I the only one who thinks LL is going to beat ODOWD? Seriously double digits? No way. ODOWD barely beat a solid Alameda team by double figures. LL brings a lot more to the table. LL guards will more than hold there own against Pac12 guards of Odowd. Wouldn't be surprised if one or 2 got the better of them.

Larry let’s look at the results the last time these two teams played on the floor they will meet on Saturday night. Las Lomas lost to a St. Patrick St. Vincent team that was not playing great at that time, and O’Dowd beat the top team from Utah with a top player over 7’0” tall. O’Dowd beat St. Pats by 12. I watched Berkeley nearly beat Las Lomas in their gym. They needed overtime to beat them. The Dragons beat Berkeley by a close score of 6 and then blasted them by 30... O’Dowd has beaten nationally ranked teams and has not lost to anyone locally. They will handle Las Lomas. I expect Las Lomas to hang in just like Alameda did, but I don’t think they will beat O’Dowd.

Larry, I forgot you had similar things to say about your MCAL and NBL teams and it didn’t turn out to be so... I do expect it to be one hell of a game, but I’ve got O’Dowd, probably in a close one, but if O’Dowd plays as well as they can play they will win by double digits. The only issue I have with O’Dowd is they’ve rarely played their best, for long enough stretches in any game.

Tam lost by 5 points and was within 3 points with 30 seconds left against Moreau in last years NCS final.

O'Dowd over LL by 10; 62-52
Salesian Over Campo by 17; 68-51

Give me Heritage over CVC. This won't be as tough as Dublin on the road.....

Even though LL's identity is to get up and down and get the score up into the 70's and 80's, I'm not sure if I want to do that against O'Dowd on Saturday. I try and slow the game down and limit the possessions and keep the game in the 50's. That will do three things for LL:

1) Limit O' Dowd offensive rebounds and 2nd chance points
2) Keep LL key players out of foul trouble
3) Magnify LL's FAR superior outside shooting

I don't foresee LL doing any of these things however and instead they "stick with their game" and that will cost them. It'll be a fun one until about mid-way into the 3rd quarter..... O'Dowd will be relentless on the offensive glass, wearing down LL, getting them into foul trouble, and winning 85 to 70.

Give me Salesian by however much they feel like they want to win by that day

Give me St. Joe's

Give me Branson

Weird thing is either way LL is probably in a better spot to play for a state champ game in norcal d2 than ODOWD has in the open. A win would get them #1 seed though. Where does Odowd get seeded in the open? #2-#4 if you ask me as of today.
The court at St Mary's will help spacing for LL shooters. That cracker box of a gym ODOWD plays in heavily favors longer teams that can shorter the court.

Heritage by 78-74. Transfer PG is legit & I think Ned will best player on the CT.
O'dowd by 68-60. This O'dowd team looks to have the chemistry the last few teams lacked.
Salesian by alot 72-48 Will Campo score over 50pts?
Spsv by 62-56 Revenge game
University by 54-47. Bigger and better

Las Lomas will be in D1 for Norcals. Along with Dublin, Berkeley and whoever loses D1 game.

Okay, I'll play:

D1: I'll go with CVC in a very close one... LOTS of running and scoring! I'll say 86-84.

D2: The x-factor is Hardy... If he plays his best ball, O'Dowd wins by 10 or more. If he has one of his occasional bad games full of turnovers, LL might sneak in with a win, even if Gaskin kicks butt like he almost always does. Add in the size advantage for the Dragons, and O'Dowd has a better chance at the win. I'll say 64-59 Dragons.

D3: I love my Cougars, but Salesian is on another planet... I'll say 71-53 Pride.

D4: The Big Rematch... SPSV would love to find some way to beat my Pilots after three losses to them last year and another this year in an overtime thriller... D. Jackson scares the hell outa me, he seems to be getting better every week... But I'm going with my heart on this one. Pilots in another epic, 71-70.

D5: I've been saying all year that it looks like Branson is back to the winning ways they showed during coach Honick's previous time there, and even said they'd win D5 as late as last week's tourney predictions... But I'm gonna change my mind. University wins 55-53.

CVC over Heritage by 4
BOD over LL by 7
Salesian over Campo by 20+
SP/SV over St Joes by 2
University over Branson by 3

LL76-74
Odowd has not played anyone with the ball movement of LL. The Hayward league was up and down and zero defense. All of this pressing and full court pressure led to a lay up drill. No defense at all ! Track meet every game and I saw a lot of games . On ball screens was the most advanced anyone got in this league. No sets except for Odowd. Mostly isolation plays for great players at Odowd. LL should be ready for the test. They can shoot. Not a lot of shooters like LL in this league.

St. Pats guarded them at the MLK event. I saw that game. O’Dowd handled St.Pats... that’s their common opponent, along with Berkeley. Las Lomas needed overtime at home to escape Berkeley. I saw that game too. I like O’Dowd in this one, especially considering common opponent results.

If LL shoots 40%+ from 3 they will win. live and die by line though. I think the LL guards will have something to prove. They are highly underrated.

St.Pats plays defense. I was talking about the Hayward league. Should be a great game

Heard that CCS D2 and D3 championship boys and girls games are moved to Piedmont Hills.

Apparently there is a power outage at Independence HS.
