For a bit of perspective, Sacred Heart Cathedral has not beaten Serra since 1997 when the Irish won, 33-28. Overall, Serra, ranked No.1 in Northern California, leads the series, 39-4. Serra, 9-0 and guaranteed at least a share of the 2022 WCAL title, needs a Saturday afternoon win to finish 10-0 for the first time. SHC, 6-3, is having one of its best regular seasons in years. In league play, the Irish have defeated SI, Riordan, VC and Bellarmine. However, its most impressive victory occurred in the first game of the year when SHC edged past Sacred Heart Prep in San Francisco, 13-12. That's the only loss on the SHP ledger as they head into their non-league meeting with neighboring Menlo School this week. The Gators 8-1, are champions of the Peninsula Athletic League Bay (A) Division.

I thought maybe you would know but looks like SH will be one of the 8 in D1 CCS. If they lose, is their season over or will they be placed as an at-large Nor Cal? I want to say their season would be over because last year after winning their CCS division they faced Chico in a NorCal matchup.

Menlo/SHP is a league game this year. The historic Valpo Bowl with all proceeds supporting the Bridge School Foundation

Some of us tend to dub it the "Capital Gains Bowl." After all, the tuition at both schools is more than $55,000. But your point is well-taken.

"Historic" may be a bit of hyperbole. The schools have been playing one another for only 15 years or so. They did not play early in the 2000's because SHP had not developed its football program to the level of its pricey neighbor.

Side note: SHP’s home - Palatella Field. (Still on SHP’s website) The name has been unceremoniously removed as this family was involved in the highly reported infamous college admissions scandal a few years back that included a number of Hollywood celebrities and elites.

Who is going to win tonight? sI or Riordan Jordan? What happened last week against SH?

Tough to say...If Riordan has all its players available, I would give the edge to the Crusaders. Should go down to the wire if last year's game is any indication. Riordan was in the game with the Irish early in the 3rd quarter, but the Miller and Mixon show took over. The Crusaders should have had 21 points in the first half but turned to field goals and time ran out in the first half.

Doesn't appear Serra-SHC will be live-streamed on NFHS. Does anyone know if available Youtube or SHC site perhaps? Guessing Riorda-SI will be available thru Riordan site [?] Thx -

Hey were you at the game? How was the halftime ceremony? What was crowd size?

@Rmbr26 - Tonight's Riordan @ St. Ignatius game to be streamed by www.baosn.tv
Kickoff @ 7pm

If you’re basing it on the snack bar/food trucks running out of food and drink - then it was a good turnout for both Riordan and SHC. Lol. The main stands and the ones on each side were full. The end zone student/band section was near full - but a lot of that had to with so many people lining the railings surrounding the field. Also, the student section bleachers used to be directly behind the goal post not off towards the southern side. This made it seem that the band and students were far away…
I’m a traditionalist, and it would have been nice to have the home team on the north side in front of the main stands. I was told it was because so many people were standing on the track behind the team. You had the same situation with the SHC folks standing there. Simply just need someone to keep people moving and not blocking the track. Someone mentioned the Crusaders are 0-4 since they switched sides.
Senior ceremony and HOF ceremony were nice. Bittersweet part was the Tyrone McGraw induction. RIP

I wasn’t there just wondering if anyone showed up, especially since Riordan has been losing.

It’s been a frustrating season with a large amount of injuries to its starters who most of them play two-ways. Still a lot of support from the Admin, Parents, Students and players. Coach Adhir stated the need to change culture in the program as it will attract student-athletes. Coach Adhir also runs camps for the junior football clubs and is starting a Next Level Flag Football program in SF, similar to what Coach Walsh has successfully established at Serra. Crusader O-line is very young with juniors, sophs and a freshman on the line. Building team depth with players with FB experience is key. Many first time players are currently the backups which has played into the Crusaders’ struggles.

Serra's overall team speed, depth, athleticism, preparation and execution were just too much. And, make no mistake, SHC is not chopped liver at all.

SH was really outclassed today but thats pretty much all the league foes vs Serra this year. I tuned out when it was 25-0. I saw enough. Serra too fast, too discipline, controlled line, took away most of what SH likes to run, defense just swarms to the ball, offense was so diverse it was hard for Mixon and Miller to make any impactful plays.
