Sheldon - Dublin, any news?

Maybe I am reading into it a little too much, but after reading the articles in todays MercNews, and based upon the comments made by Dublin’s AD, seems like this game may not happen after all. It appears that Dublin is insisting that the only way they will play Sheldon is if EGUSD reinstates all sports, not just the basketball team.

“...But, the (Dublin) AD added, “We need to know that all activities in the district are reinstated, that it’s not just Sheldon basketball, but it’s Sheldon baseball, Sheldon tennis, all their sports...”

Let's see... Sheldon's school district made them forfeit, and now that they may be allowed to play after all, Dublin is trying to force the EGUSF to re-activate all their sports before they'll agree to play them...

Sounds like a double forfeit is possible here if the CIF sees things this way. Dragons walkover?

I’ve been following Darren Saabedra’s articles pretty closely. He seems really on top of things. Here’s the link to the whole story. Looks like Dublin AD is basically saying (paraphrasing) On Saturday, Elk Grove School District felt strongly enough about health risk to cancel school and all activities etc. Then less than 24 hours later, after some pressure, district says No, everything’s fine, our basketball team can play...He just seems to want some proof that there is no health risk and this is not just some exception to Sheldon basketball team.

Did the SI of EGUSD forfeit the game because of a possible coronavirus case? Then got a backslash from parents, which will probably cost him his job. Then contacted the CIF to see if we can get the game played? Now there is an elementary school kid in the EGUSD that did test positive? Am I missing something here? I am guessing that Dublin wants to make sure that EGUSD isn't just making an exception for there basketball team, to save it's ass but that it's safe for all other schools in the district to continue with there sports and other school programs.

Cif has allowed them to play BUT they have to be cleared by there school district which up until now has not happened.at leat that is my understanding reading the article.

Per my understanding, the EGUSD originally shut down all schools/activities for the entire district based on the possibility of a single case where two students from a single family had possibility contracted the virus.
After the meeting on Sunday, all agreed that said students would be tested. Turns out 1 of the 2 tested positive, and was an elementary schooler from a school about 1.5 miles from Sheldon (if that matters). So now EGUSD does have ONE confirmed student case, albeit a school other than Sheldon.
Does the district now change their stance and only close the one school (which seems to be more reasonable, and follows similar protocols other schools have followed), or do they stick with their original craziness and say “NOPE, shut em all down”?

I do find it funny that Dublin’s AD has any real say in this matter. I understand his concern for his athletes , but if the EGUSD says go ahead with the game, and so does CIF, that should be that.

All that said, I don’t expect there to be a game tonight (hope I wrong).

From the press release just posted by EGUSD

EGUSD is reinstating student eligibility for academic and athletic team events scheduled for today, March 10th and Wednesday, March 11th. We expect to have answers about other academic and athletic team events scheduled for the rest of this week by Wednesday afternoon.

Two perspectives to look at this:

Sheldon - Gets the game cancelled. Thinks their season is over. Challenges the ruling, ends up getting their season re-instated on 3/10/20 @10:45 AM. Game starts at 7 or 8 PM....Sheldon will be getting on those buses with probably no practice in about 4 hours.

Dublin - Thinks they are playing Sheldon. Game gets cancelled. Dublin starts to get ready for Bishop O'Dowd. Sheldon's season re-instated. Dublin probably HAS been practicing, but expecting a different opponent. They wake up Tuesday morning thinking they are playing BOD, nope instead it's Sheldon again. Oh and the game is in about 6-7 hours. So have fun preparing for that one.

All in all this is a real big mess....and it makes me feel even worse for Lincoln and Riordan.

I don’t think Dublin has been preparing for BOD, and it looks like Sheldon probably hasn’t had a practice in 4 days. They probably also have lost quite a bit of focus since Saturday as well. I wouldn’t be shocked to see a sloppy performance by Sheldon (along with a loss). It also wouldn’t shock me to see the Huskies come together after this and make a run to States

Either way, I’m glad they are getting the chance to play, regardless of the circumstances. Too bad the EGUSD made this so sloppy. Had the district taken a breath before their terrible original ruling, this game would’ve gone off as planned on Saturday, ( at Sheldon) and both teams would’ve been focused on basketball

I am glad they are getting a chance to play and compete it would have been a real shame to lose there season on the rush to judgement by the school district but I am not buying that they havent had a practice
since word came down on Sunday that they might be back.in the touranment.

While I am glad they get a chance to play....according to the articles I've read the entire Sheldon team got tested and cleared for Corona.....

Why can't the same be done for Riordan & Lincoln?

MAKES ZERO SENSE!

Lincoln may be back in according to some sources! Just not Riordan.

The cost for the entire Sheldon team to have been tested and cleared would have been EXTREMELY expensive since there was no medical reason to have done so. What is your source, ayalar?

Not saying the players haven’t found a way to get into a gym, but seems it would be pretty risky for coaches to have been involved with any sort of practice once the district made its original ruling to shut down all activities.

“Our kids are ready to go,” Rollings said. “We haven’t had a practice since Friday. It’s a weird situation. You just don’t know what to expect. Hopefully, we can finish out the week, but you never know with coronavirus.”

Love your thoughts about this, however no matter how it plays out I don’t think Sheldon fails either way. They are the better team hands down. And I don’t see anyone else giving Sierra

GTFOH, please post a link of the article. Their is absolutely no way this is true. They could not get the results that quick nor make such rash decisions that quick. If it was that easy everybody on the Sharks would be fully tested as well as all other pro athletes. They and their employers have hundreds of millions on the line, this is a state title.

We have including my co workers father headed up to Travis base from a cruise to be quarantined for two weeks, due to 21 confirmed cases and this dude thinks the CDC is going to test the Sheldon basketball team. Come on now. Let’s be serious please.

This ayalar dude is a troll. Look at the number of posts and the complete non-sense he throws out there...all just to get a reaction from this board. We just got to ignore him and not give him the satisfaction.

So being I am back on this board this season at that, after many years away, he went to Stuart Hall. Isn’t that a tough school to get into.

I have no idea, even if it is...doesn't mean his HS education made him mature or gave him the skills to properly investigate a claim before communicating it as his facts.

Thank you guys for posting rational items. I posted six different things yesterday letting AyalaR know that his items are nonsense and to please stop posting them. Clearly, that attempt by me failed....spectacularly.

In other news, there is a thread on this group saying a cure has been found in Norway. It's from a BS site with a name that sounds like a legitimate site.

Oh, there is good news. Conspiracy theorist and all-around wacko Alex Jones was arrested on a DWI today in Texas.

In fairness ayalar09 didn’t say Sheldon got tested, he stated the “articles he read” stated Sheldon got tested

My guess is some random BS’er on some message board’ said Sheldon got tested, and Ayala passed that along as ‘articles“.

Hoping for a quality performance by Sheldon tonight

mrbig864, he does that frequently and has been told numerous times that his sources are garbage. In fact, some of them do not exist at all.

mrbig864, in relation to an earlier post, CIF did NOT force Dublin to play today. Dublin agreed to do so. Had they not, it would have been a forfeit.
