SJSU Women’s Basketball cancels season

This is big news. It reads like the Santa Clara restrictions played a role, but it might be more than that too since other sports are continuing on

It's the Santa Clara County restrictions. It's cost more money to have to travel everytime you play. They don't at least have the home games. I don't care what anyone says but Santa Clara County overreached by shutting down pro and college sports.

Still cannot understand why safe outdoor dining is verboten. That one is just weird.
Most of the "outdoor dining" I saw later in the year was just indoor dining in a tent in the parking lot. I think when we look back, we'll realize that the draconian shutdown rules weren't the problem. The general public's inability to follow simple rules was the problem.

Since I write about restaurants weekly (Diablo Dish, if you're interested), I go out a lot, and outdoor dining did not come close to living up to safety protocols. Seldom were tables six feet apart, masks were off for most diners the entire meal, whether any food or drink was being consumed, and tables of four-plus people who were clearly not in a family bubble were all too common. And at some restaurants, the bar inside was open, with people sitting and drinking there as well. Agreed, though, that it was not the biggest contributor, but given the lack of enforcement and disdain for the safety rules, it made sense to shut it down, in my view.

because everyone continues to blah blah about small businesses and making people lose their restaurants. so which is it? let them operate or close everything?

Let’s keep the focus of this thread on San Jose State cancelling its women’s basketball season.

I’m a little curious it wasn’t men too. It’s not like that program has a huge interest and is losing less money right?

On December 29th, San Jose State WBB posted on their twitter that their starting point guard and engine, Ayzhiana Basallo, is out for the season due to ACL injury. So why take the risk if you can't be as competitive as you could be if you had your star point guard.
