Redwood 54 Riordan 51
Fun one in Marin. Redwood is a fundamentally sound team that plays tough defense and sticks open threes. Riordan brings speed and size and pressures the ball but can be a bit careless on offense. The combination made for an entertaining game that Redwood won down the stretch. Take heart Riordan fans – there were at least four girls in track suits on the bench itching to play, including some large ones.

Priory 69 Lick Wilmerding 34
Priory has firepower. Any one of ten different players could score in double figures on a given night. This night they were led by senior Vienn Sheng who had 18 on six threes. When she’s got an open look, there are not many better shooters in the Bay Area.

Willow Glen 53 Presentation 23
Oh boy. It might be a tough WCAL season for Presentation if they’re losing by 30 to WG. As it stands Pres has lost 33 league games in a row. WG senior Natalia Valerio had 19, 7 assts and 4 steals.

Pinewood 72 Los Gatos 45
Large margin of victory for Pinewood over a solid Los Gatos squad with two D1 bigs. Sr Katherine Garr led Pinewood with 19, junior Caitlyn Kramer had 18/7/7/6. Cornell commit Ashley Childers scored 18 for the Cats.

St. Francis 54 California 48
The undersized but athletic Lancers go 3-0 in a tourney at Fremont and hand California its first loss. Soph Grace Curley, Sr Maia Jiminez and Jr Paige Spencer all-tourney, with Cal seniors Lauren Yee and Trinity Chu.

I was expecting Los Gatos to be more competitive against Pinewood. Garr outplayed both their D1 bigs. Wasn’t even close.
